QB Joe Burrow (transfer to LSU, 2019 Heisman Winner, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

I didn't necessarily expect to say this, but Burrow looked to me like he may have been the best QB on the field yesterday.
I said in the Scrimmage thread, I thought Burrow and Haskins were both incredibly close. Burrow is a better runner and Haskins seems to have a slightly stronger arm. Both seem to get the ball out sooner with more on it and more accurate. I think both will move the chains better and give us more options on offense.

They both have a pretty good arm. Burrow hit 64 yards and Haskins hit 63 in the long ball competition, for what it's worth.

Haskins might have had a touch more velocity during the game but I also got the sense that Burrow could have been holding some in reserve. Good problem to have either way.

Urban has put off the decision for awhile to maintain the competition (and depth chart). Assuming Haskins does not set the world on fire, this could give Urban a little wiggle room to push the competition into the spring.

If Haskins does seize the incumbent position, it opens the door for Martell to get package snaps next year as a change of pace runner. Haskins has the arm talent but is a pretty mediocre runner, whereas Burrow is a very capable one. Taking Haskins out of the game and inserting Martell adds another dimension to the offense. Taking out Burrow just disrupts the flow and adds a less seasoned guy who might be a little better runner but not enough to justify the swap (other than to keep Tate engaged and involved).

Looking at the schedule. Even at the worst case (6 weeks) He'd be back around the time of the Maryland game (10/7) and have 3 weeks of practice before the Penn State game, which is 10/28 after a BYE.

I think they still could manage to beat about anyone on the schedule besides Oklahoma up to that point, if something were to happen to JT (Indiana, Army, UNLV, Rutgers, Maryland and Nebraska) It would be some nerve racking stuff though.
