QB Joe Bauserman (official thread)

I, for one, feel very comfortable with Joe in the #2 spot. He has a good pocket presence, and is mobile enough to keep a play alive. Plus the dude has a rocket of a right arm, and has had time with the offense. Let's hope he can step in when his time comes.

Does anybody know how much actual game experience Joe B. has? I suspect very little. Better hope TP stays healthy..................
Yes, very little. Of course everybody wants TP to stay healthy. But, if he were to get injured (God forbid), I'd much rather have Joe B. as a backup than Nick F'n Sheridan.

2008 passing stats from the official site. Joe also had 16 rushing yds on 3 carries (5.3ypc!). Not much to go on, but I'd still take him over anyone on UM's roster under RR. I can't think of an OSU backup in my lifetime that I'd trade for any of the "new" UM QBs. IIRC, UM didn't complete a pass until well in to the second half of last year's edition of The Game.

Backup quarterback Joe Bauserman will play for a series with the first-team offense during the second quarter, if things go according to play. Tressel always like to play his backup quarterback in the opener. Asked if the Buckeyes could show a look with Bauserman at quarterback and Terrelle Pryor at receiver, like during the Fiesta Bowl with Todd Boeckman and Pryor, Tressel smiled and said he couldn't talk about that. If that is there, don't expect it against Navy.

I still say Joe Bauserman will surprise alot of People in this season coming. We hope that nothing will happen if Pryor goes down but Bauserman seems to have a game face on at all times, be it on the side lines or in a game situation. He just give me the impression that he is a real gamer.

OSU notebook: Coach says Bauserman OK with role
Thursday, October 22, 2009

Ohio State quarterbacks coach Nick Siciliano said he talked with backup quarterback Joe Bauserman on Sunday, a day after starter Terrelle Pryor wasn't pulled from the 26-18 loss to Purdue despite turning the ball over four times.

"We had a good conversation, just about where everything was at, and he understood what we were thinking and why we did what we did," Siciliano said. "Joe understands what his role is, and he's been great about everything and comes to work every day."

I was kind of hoping Bauserman would be in form by now. It seemed his receivers were open but was he rushing some of his throws against New
Mexico state? At first glance i saw Terrell Pryor with his pads off and a stocking cap on. Then the second thought was that maybe he was hurt.
But at least Joe is getting some real and needed time over center. Now we
are down to brass tacks as Ohio State heads into the real meat of the season. Maybe we will see some new wrinkles in the offense and hope that Bauserman and Pryor are up to the task.
