QB Jack Miller (transfer to Florida)

Let’s say this ends up being a reduced sentence or is thrown out etc just for sake of argument. Jack was taken off the street ….so no nuns or orphans were wiped out. Can’t we just live with that as a society? The kid was removed from being a danger, he’s definitely been embarrassed and hopefully learns a good lesson.

I can get on board with that.

Pretty sure he refused the breathalyzer, so I believe at a minimum he'll lose his drivers license for a period of time.
Supposed to be a year which is also bullshit. Been in one of those uniforms and the job is brutal, especially with social everything going on. It used to be you could escort a person home safely, or let someone else drive but most stops are all about the money now and perception that you're keeping everyone safe. Texting or being on the phone is likely worse but alcohol is evil! Meh, give the kid a ride home and let him go with the lesson imo. Maybe suspend his license 3 to 6 months. That's not this new ideal though

I would have failed the standing on one foot, and I don't drink. Some of the other things he did were out of sight of the camera, so we don't know about them. He failed to follow all instructions (keep your hands out of your pockets), but that could have been attributed to nervousness. On some of the interaction with the officer he definitely appeared nervous, but he didn't appear to be impaired. He did weave while driving, but that could have been guys fooling around in the truck. I believe in coming down on drunk drivers, but I didn't see a drunk driver on the sobriety tests, and unless they did a breathalyzer I don't see how you could convict him based on the video.

I learned a very different alphabet when I was in school than you did.

You obviously have never had a loved one seriously injured or killed by a drunk driver.

The first offense is practically a slap on the wrist. 3-day program. Fine. License suspension with privileges. It’s the second and third where the real punishment comes in.

No. If people think they can be left off from drunk driving because they didn't kill anyone there is no deterrent

My grandma was hit head-on on High St. on her way to church one Sunday morning.

Hope he learns from this. Will go one of two ways for him. Having gone to school at tOSU you can always walk anywhere and with Uber / Lyft at the push of a button, no reason to risk it.

My family was inches away from being wiped out as a kid. My parents were driving us home from a family party on New Years and a drunk asshole in a Porsche was going 100+ the wrong way on 275. A mile down 275 he hit a family head on and took them all out. More crosses erected on the side of the highway. Jack didn’t appear to be anywhere near this level but it’s why you HAVE to enforce the law. Columbus is not Happy Valley, Tuscaloosa or Tallahassee.

Back to Jack, I’m rooting for him to rise above it and get back on track.
