Wilson is a little better at escaping in the pocket though the difference isn't pronounced.I doubt think Wilson is more athletic than JT...I've seen JT make moves as sick as any Wilson has made. I'll concede that Wilson is a bit faster, though. I also don't think Wilson has a "much" livelier arm...
12G has a first pick in the draft arm.12 Gauge's arm? Yes. Wilson's arm? No.

The difference in arm strength is gigantic. Barrett has a very average arm for college and a poor one for the pros. Wilson has a very good arm by NFL standards. He's just too short for scouts.
He's got a better arm than McCoy imo... drafted in the 3rd, started for 2 [Mark May]ty franchises... [shrugs] and now looking like a journeyman backup.
A lot of people said Bridgewater's arm wasn't good enough either. I think Teddy can make some throws JT hasn't shown... but the "big arm" thing doesn't seem to stop teams from drafting (esp outside the 1st) or giving opportunities.
JT has a ton of upside in other areas (I'd take him every day of the week over McCoy) ... a little wiggle, good in and out of the pocket, can take off but isn't reliant on that, knows when to cut his run short and save himself, student of the game, natural leader, etc.
JT doesn't get to throw very much. I've been consistently on the record as a big JT fan, but what do you see that makes you think he should be a higher NFL pick than Troy Smith (5th round) was? Maybe a bit of height, I guess.
Considering they were talking about Troy as a 2nd-3rd round guy until the meltdown and his height... well... those two things.
He also had a pretty terrible combine.
Even so, Troy Smith was drafted and got to start. I don't remember who said JT would never even get to start... but... that is what I originally responded to.
No one is saying his arm is "similar" to Wilson's, but rather that it's not way behind Wilson's.This all started with the ridiculousness that he has a similar arm to Wilson.
