QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

He is every bit as good as Manning and Luck in college... whether he makes much of it is to be determined, but selling DH short is just dumb.
He lacks the experience and development Luck and Manning got from their longer time in college. That's a concern, as you note..... "whether he makes much of it" was less of a risk when drafting Luck and Manning.

ONE GREAT YEAR IN COLLEGE. Ask Kelly Bryant or Jalen Hurts about having one great year in college.

To compare Hurts and Haskins throwing the ball shows a lack of understanding of NFL QB. Hurts had ZERO chance of being a first round draft pick last year, ZERO! Bryant wasn't either, nor should he be mentioned in the same breath as Haskins when speaking of NFL talent. Seriously?

Haskins is a first round LOCK.

As for Luck and Manning, no they were not guaranteed stars as many thought Ryan Leif was a better choice than Manning. Hindsight is 20/20 when we have already seen what those two have done in the NFL, but they were not locks either.

My point is that one great year in college is just that...... one great year in college.

And yes, Haskins is a far better QB than those guys, but he's NOT that much better this year than Herbert. Both are good, young QBs. Both are likely first round picks this year. Neither are generational BECAUSE they are so damn young, so underdeveloped in the game...... that's not a "anti-" view. That's realistic.

He's miles ahead of Herbert.
You're really trying to compare a guy that went 47% 3 TD - 2 Ints (but he threw for 300yds !!) vs mighty San Jose State against 64% 396yds 6TD vs the #2 defense in the country ?
Haskins worst day was a comeback victory over Penn State 56% 270yds 3TD - 1 Int.
Even in Oregon's signature win of the year, Herbert wasn't that great. 18/32 202yds 2 TDs.
Herbert averaged 59% over the year ... Haskins dropped under 60% just twice all year: PSU and Corn.
70% completion over the course of a whole season... with almost 500 attempts and 4500+ yards is some shit Herbert can only dream of.

I found it laughable too... anyone who thinks Herbert is better than Dwayne can come see me because I have a lot of junk to sell them.

That's the problem with this board. I CLEARLY said Haskins is "not that much better" than Herbert.

Don't they teach reading at tOSU anymore?

Haskins is, as I've said, a bigger risk. He'll have something like 15 college games under his belt. That's hardly a proven, generational talent.

That's all I've said.

Part of me is trying to figure out how being 5 months older than Luck when he declared means they can't be compared at all because Haskins is "so damn young".

(Nevermind that my point was that Haskins is best NFL prospect since Luck -- not that he's Luck 2.0 ...)

What's the exact number of games required before we're allowed to discuss a generational talent ?
