Well that sucks. There goes one of Day’s partially-but-not-really successful short yardage ideas.

I think they were probably scared of getting McCord hurt there and didn't practice QB sneak with anyone elseMaybe not the right thread for this, but why not do the stupid tush push play? Line up Miyan Williams under center, two offensive linemen behind him, and push for 2 yards.
According to Day.....because other teams are trying to stop it. :|Maybe not the right thread for this, but why not do the stupid tush push play? Line up Miyan Williams under center, two offensive linemen behind him, and push for 2 yards.

With 1 yard or less to go in critical situations, that should be the only play ran. The analytics shows it works the vast majority of the time and for good reason. Snap under center so you can go forward immediately, jumbo set of your biggest blockers in a concentrated area, and you have 2-3 big guys behind you pushing you across...that is going to work more than any other play in that scenario now that the push is legal.Maybe not the right thread for this, but why not do the stupid tush push play? OH! Just like Mike "Anabolic" Mauti ( RIP) ? That would be a nice touch.Wait until they put his number on the side of their helmets.

And aside from the success rate, the QB doesn't get hurt in that play...no full running motion to twist or break anything, just literally leaning forward with help behind you. Not sure why we refuse to use that advantage.
Agreed! So with McCord's sudden, unexpected departure, that leaves a guy from South Dakota and a guy from Utah as our QBs. I mean, it doesn't matter where they're from if they do the job. I just find it interesting.
