QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

He does I can only think of 1 bad throw and 2 bad decisions the whole game. Throw trying to force it Stover and throwing to JSN when he had Marvin Harrison on the easier TD. And the bad throw was the miss where he had Stover in the endzone

Same. And I don't care that it's Toledo, Stroud was basically a robot out there. 3 games into the season and you could just take those highlights and make him a 1st rounder. He's got great talent around him, but anyone with eyes can see Stroud is maximizing it.

After 3 games this is utterly meaningless, but I'm obsessed with numbers so...

Stroud is now #2 in the country in passing efficiency.

He is behind Max Duggan of TCU, who launched 29 of his 32 pass attempts against something called Tarleton State.

Not a typo... Tarleton State

In the words of that great philosopher, Ozzy Osbourne, "Don't ask me. I don't know."

Just behind CJ is Todd Centeio of James Madison, who has posted his stats against MTSU and Norfolk State.

After that come the quarterbacks who couldn't even (lol) crack 200.

Chief among them is last year's PE champion, Grayson McCall, a legitimately great college qb with excellent field-vision and accuracy. In spite of playing Army, Gardner-Webb, and Buffalo, he is still well short of his PE of last year (and of CJ's numbers this year).

After that comes the highest ranked other B1G quarterback, Graham Merkin (sp?). Graham posted gaudy numbers against Illinois State and New Mexico State, so his sub-135 showing against Washington State still leaves him in the top-5 nationally.

Of everyone in the top 5, everyone but Grayson McCall is going to play better competition moving forward, so it wouldn't surprise me if he were the PE-King at the end of this year as he was in 2021. I'd still take CJ over him every day of the week and 5 times on Saturday.

A lot of people are saying that CJ had an awful game and he has no chance at a Heisman now but I disagree. He didnt light them up for 500 yards but Notre Dame isnt a garbage team either. Should have ran some more so that CJ had play action to use early but some of the throws that CJ made were absolutely ridiculous. The touchdown to EE was incredible as well as multiple roll outs CJ had. He's going to need a week or two to get used to the timing with the other guys but he still had 71%, 2TDs and no INTs. The guys in front of him are going to have more rushing yards without a doubt but get back to me after this week and next when CJ has 1000 yards passing for the season after 3 games and his completion percentage is phenomenal and Ohio State is 3-0 getting ready to play Wisconsin.

In the immortal words of Marty Brenneman, "How we lookin?"

May be short of 1000 by a couple but I counted him for zero rushes so let's call it a push.

Among B1G quarterbacks with more than 40 pass attempts on the season, Stroud is the only one who has yet to throw an interception.

Stroud has 85 attempts on the season; 7 B1G QBs have more. Among those with more attempts than CJ, all but Aidan O'Connell of Purdue have thrown multiple interceptions.

Might be the more impressive stat CJ has because he has been so smart with the ball. He could have shredded ND worse than he did, but in critical moments did the smart thing to help his team rather than go for a risky pass. I can recall one pass against Toledo that could have been picked and possibly ill-advised, but I remember that one because he has only been putting the ball where his receiver can catch it. CJ's accuracy when taking into account the difficulty of some of his throws and the consistency is the best I have ever seen at OSU during my lifetime. Lots of season left, but there is just enough body of work to know he is next-level talented.

I think CJs stats at the end of this year are going to be more impressive than last year because of how he has to throw guys open more and thread the needle more considering there is going to be less running 5 yards open or more with JSN as the third guy in the group. There will still be some of that because the scheme is ridiculous and the talent still amazing but, CJ will cause a lot of his own success the year.

What i find even more incredible is the effort every single guy is giving for every single throw he makes which you have to credit Hartline for of course but also the Brotherhood which is definitely real. All the years I've lived Ohio State football I have not seen better chemistry and camaraderie than right now and CJ is their undisputed leader.
