QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

Tulsa lost to a FCS team this year, not sure if we get any more layups. If McCord looks better against Akron give the kid a shot. Unfortunately injuries do end up having people lose their jobs. Not the right way to lose one but football is about what have you done for me lately. Let Stroud rest the shoulder and be ready for BIG play.

Comparing Stroud’s play against Minnesota, Oregon, and Tulsa to someone else against Akron isn’t a 1 to 1 comparison.

And Stroud hasn’t done anything to lose the job except be top 25 in passing efficiency, top 15 in TDs, top 10 in yards per completion, and top 15 in yards per attempt.

IMO this is the worst situation we could find ourselves in.

Stroud has clearly been Day's guy. How much is the shoulder, how much lack of confidence, how much rookie jitters I don't know. The kid has shown he is capable of making great throws, but also is not ready to read the field. But the worst thing you can do for a kid who is learning his way is have him looking over his shoulder.

Now we are going to see if McCord will have a big day. It is fucking Akron. McCord will have a big day. Then those of us who have never attended a practice can really start second guessing.

Thanks God we are at Rutgers next week or I could see Stroud getting booed when he takes the field.

If we are ever going to trust the coaches, now is the time.

C.J. STROUD WILL PLAY ONLY IN “EMERGENCY CAPACITY” AGAINST AKRON DUE TO SHOULDER INJURY, KYLE MCCORD OR JACK MILLER TO START AT QUARTERBACK

God help us if we need CJ Stroud in an "emergency capacity" on Saturday.

Here comes the McCord Hype Train, let him hit some deep balls to Olave and Wilson. Lets have a QB competition boys. Elevate the play of the QB and this team can still reach the levels it set out.

We'll have to keep level heads because there are going to be numerous homerun balls thrown Saturday... but we need to reflect on the competition... This is not top 10 ranked opponent... WRs (ALL of them) will be open all day long

You are 100% correct he has not done anything to lose it. Not looking like Justin Fields like most of the fan base expects him to look lol. Not playing unfortunately can lose it. McCord in my opinion would have to look flawless to even give him more than one start. One week wont lose his job entirely, but if he is still not able to go against Rutgers I can see them sticking with McCord.

Their first game was an anomaly. Tulsa would beat Akron by 5 TDs. Rutgers and Maryland could maybe pose a threat based on what we've seen, but if this team struggles with Akron, no matter who is at QB, then we'll start talking about significant issues with Day and the program. Rutgers beat Temple by ~50, who then beat Akron by 21. I know the transitive property isn't reliable, but that's pretty clear to me.

I'm glad he's getting rest, but I'm not sure how to feel about this decision. It makes sense if they think it can get better, but shoulder injuries don't usually heal up in a week, especially if it's something due to overuse.

Can't wait to see the hot takes after McCord blows away a terrible Akron team and fans have coronaries every time Stroud throws an incompletion. Already plenty saying that Stroud is playing up the severity of the injury only after an incompletion. Getting pretty fucking sick of people talking shit about kids and see why so many people hate OSU fans.

Good afternoon, been reading these forums all season so far, figured today I would sign up and post a little here and there.

I feel for CJ in a way, because he really hasn't been bad. In the first 2 games I was defending him against a lot of my friends. It was two games.... and his first two games at that. I definitely feel like we were so spoiled with Fields that people seemed to forget it's more likely to get a JT Barrett, than a Fields. Which is not to say JT was bad, but not everyone is as gifted as Fields was.

After game 3 though I definitely agreed someone else should get a shot. Not bench CJ, but give them reps to see what they can do. Most especially because if CJ were to get hurt, last thing I would want to see if our next man up, with zero in game reps ever, having to face a PSU team or even a good MSU or potentially dangerous Indy team.

I am happy to see Day is giving someone (we assume McCord) some time. Sad reality is, we have 4 great QB's who could start in A LOT of D1 schools. We are going to lose at least one for sure, but I would rather it not be 2 since we didn't want to at least give another guy some chances when CJ has not really earned the right to be the undisputed lock for all meaningful reps IMO

Yup. The majority of this fanbase has a toxic mentality that also happens to be soft as baby shit. It's embarrassing to read certain things here and in various corners of the internet (other OSU fansites, Facebook, Twitter, etc).
