QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

The problem is, we've played 2 competitive teams (read: not Mercer) so it's very difficult to determine CJ's performance without being under EXTREME anxiety. I understand QBs need to be tested but man, that's really all he's had a chance to do. None of us expected Fields. But, the main problem here (at least from the public), we all know who's sitting on the bench. All THREE of them. And, you can't help but wonder what they would look like out there.

It's a shame our schedule started out with these two teams. Is CJ simply too young? Or does he lack the talent we already have?

I'm certainly not saying we should bench him. But, I think the picture would be a lot clearer if we'd scheduled Akron.

Kid has completed 63% of his passes for 775 yards and 7 Tds in two games.

I am not even sure how to respond

Completion percentage does little to say about the effectiveness of a QB - when you have the WR's OSU has, I don't think 63% says much in and of itself in regards to the QB.

Clearly, CJ is not 100% physically. He's alluded to it constantly in post game interviews, he's always trying to wind his shoulder up and keep it loose on the field, he's shown a tendency to not want to run and I would assume avoid contact with that shoulder, his release point is far too high which would indicate to me he may have shoulder pain and is releasing too quickly, his deep throw touch has been off.

Hoping CJ only needs a half next week, gets his confidence up, and can rest up a bit and avoid any contact.

An injured Stroud is better than the other 3? Wow. Dennis has work to do.

CJ's release point being higher on some throws more than others is a big reason why the ball sails on him. The worst thing you can do as a QB is miss high.

I get so disturbed when a QB throws sky high to a wide open WR... why you don't put it into his body .. dunno
and this goes for Baker Mayfield too

I think if we were going against lesser opponents, letting Stroud go all out would be fine because the talent gap between the buckeyes and some MAC team would leave us the cushion for him to make mistakes.

I just question Day's approach to these last two games, I really thought he put too much of a load on Stroud to throw the ball. He didn't try to take the pressure off him and try to allow others to shoulder that load. Even just getting Stroud to run more might have prevented some of the big mistakes today.

I think Stroud could eventually grow into the QB we need him to be but it just seems odd that Day throws him to the fire without trying to adjust the offense to help him along the way especially against the opponents we had the last two games.
