QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

The fun part for now is the total unknown to
the average fan.

He could be all world or a total bust. We dont even know his style of play yet, strengths or weaknesses. I have no idea what to expect.

Does he stay in the pocket and deliver a dime right before getting clocked by a rushing DE? Does he get happy feet and lose his cool? Does he have a knack for scrambling and throwing on the run? No clue.

But I’ll know pretty soon.

And that’s the fun part. I think of all the different types of QBs I’ve seen in college and the pros and how vastly different some are. And I wonder what we have in Stroud.

It’s like Christmas.
I know it’s good but how good. TS good. Or Tim Boeckman good.

Much more at play with Fields/UGA than just being behind Fromm.

Being utilized pretty poorly in his spot playing time as a straight read-option QB among those issues. The Fields family recognized early on they didn’t like the system or way Justin was going to develop in Athens.

Maybe Ewers leaves after a year (I doubt it). But it won’t be because the system doesn’t fit him. Beyond the system though, it’s not a given he will even beat out Kyle McCord. And with all this, they’re still landing elite QB prospects….will be interesting to follow for sure.

With what's been said about McCord I think Ewers will have a tough time beating him out. Wouldn't be surprised if McCord is the guy after Stroud provided he waits.

The best will play. And whomever wins will have a ton of talent around him to succeed. If someone wants to leave, so be it, regardless who it is. We can't expect Day and staff to be babysitters and worry about hurt feelings.

They aren’t recruiting kids who need to be babysat though. That’s the point.

These kids came to learn and compete together. They will all get better by competing against eachother. If you don’t want to compete, you don’t enroll at tOSU right now.

Keep in mind, the best private QB coaches in the country that start working with these kids in high school, are all pushing them to tOSU as well. They understand the significance of development at the position and have huge belief in Ryan Day.

Honestly those aren’t comparable situations imo; similar I suppose..? But Fromm was an absolute pleb of a quarterback. Stroud beat out a four star and a 5-star freshman; one didn’t leave due to extenuating circumstances which caused him to be the default starter.

and once one or two leave, Day will just sign another elite prospect after this offense continues to erupt over this conference.

Kids want to compete, but they also want to play. By what you're saying, did Joe Burrow not want to compete?
My point is saying "babysitting", is that our coaches are going to play the best, and can't worry about everyone being hurt for not getting in. Kids enroll at OSU and any top program wanting to compete, but also wanting to actually play.

Extenuating circumstances aside, Fromm and Stroud had pretty much the same ranking coming out of high school (actually eerily similar rankings - look it up on 247). Not sure he was a “pleb” then nor is he one now (on an nfl team).
