QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

Fuck this guy. Btw.... If this wasn't the plan then he needs some self awareness.

No wonder we are being beat by freaking Miami.

We have this idiot.

Lol what are we getting beat by Cryami in? Landing recruits who only care about the bag and will dip after 1 season? They have zero winning culture down there. I'm not the least bit envious or concerned with them.

Imo people who refer to the team as "they" shouldn't watch the games.

What does this have to do with CJ Stroud? What does your insipid misreading of someone's personal Twitter account have anything to do with saying "we" like anyone not connected at even 5th hand to Brian Schottenstein announcing the gender of his unborn child?

I miss dings.

I consider the entire OSU football apparatus (staff, faculty, players and fans etc) as WE.

I actually think he goes #1….Chicago wants to trade that pick so comes down to best offer.

I really think that UGA game proved he’s the best QB in this draft.

I do think any team that takes him needs to account for his style of play and where he excels.

I hate harping on it….but I’m not sure I take him if I’m the Jets…..I’d live him if I were the Colts or Texans though. A lot of variables at play….

His throwing motion and footwork progressed throughout the season, which is a testament to the time and energy he puts into preparation. The California native has a natural feel for the game and is able to improvise based on the defensive approach. It is important that he continues to show growth this season. 2023 NFL Draft: Mel Kiper, Todd McShay examine C.J. Stroud's draft stock after monster game against Georgia

"I was so impressed with C.J. Stroud," Todd McShay said on the First Draft podcast. "And the thing that I've been looking for, and every NFL scout that I've been talking to has been looking for from Stroud — use the mobility that you have. Get creative being a little bit more like Bryce Young where you're feeling the pressure, you're able to get outside the pocket — use your feet as a weapon. He didn't do it for the majority of the last two years, but he did it in that game against Georgia."

"And the success that he had against that exceptional defense really resonated with NFL scouts," McShay said. "And watching the tape, it's shown a little bit of a different side from him. So that was a huge game and a huge moment, right before he declares for the draft, and that's only going to help him."

"For Ohio State, C.J. Stroud, it's like you said — it wasn't just pitch and catch," Kiper said. "That's what you saw a lot, because he had that offensive line, the great receiving core, three running backs, tight end (Cade) Stover came on. So it was, like you said, pitch and catch. How would he be under duress? How would he be when he had to use that, his legs, to beat a defense? And he did all that. So C.J. Stroud, certainly — even though he didn't beat Michigan, even though he didn't win a national title, he certainly is a guy who is moving up to the point where it is a competition. It's Will Levis, Kentucky; it's Bryce Young, Alabama; and now it's C.J. Stroud, from Ohio State."

"Well, the pros are that he just layers the ball perfectly," McShay said. "Yes, he's had first-round draft pick at wide receiver the last couple of years and he certainly benefits from the fact that he's got guys around him that are going to play at a high level in the NFL. But the way he throws the ball from inside the pocket — short, intermediate, deep, it doesn't matter. The touch, the timing, the ball placement is exactly what you want to see. And sometimes it's so beautiful that if you put together a highlight reel of his best 10 passes, it's better than any other quarterback in this class. The knock on him has always been, 'Why isn't he using his mobility?' He's a good athlete. But when pressure comes, there seems to be a little bit of a panic."

So where does he end up? I hope he's able to avoid the Bears, Texans, Cardinals. Wonder how far down the line he falls. Pity the first two picks.

First off, congrats CJ and what an amazing college career. Perhaps the best player we've ever had to not bring back the Heisman (I realize there are other players to be argued, but he is at least right there).

To your post, I really hope he ends up in a spot where he can actually be successful. I feel like every OSU QB has been shafted with their initial landing spot and had no chance. That includes Haskins and Fields, though Fields has time and I hope for his sake he is traded by the Bears because their offense is absolutely tragic and he's going to get killed at this rate. Then again, that could equal CJ to Chicago, which would be even more alarming bc unlike JF, he is not going to be able to escape that amount of pressure.

I don't think Houston would be a death sentence, but I think the best realistic landing spots are Indy, Seattle or Atlanta. I can't see him falling out of the top 10 picks and unless someone trades up for him, I don't think he will stay on the board past that. Chicago, Arizona, Detroit or Vegas would be tough unless they make some big changes/moves in FA, though Detroit and Vegas could be viable if they are serious about FA and draft right. My NFL team is likely set for many years to come with Burrow, so I am just hoping for CJ to have a chance to thrive.

Actually Detroit would not be tough. They have one of the best O-lines in the league. Jamo and the good St Brown. Some good RB's. Their issue is more D. And that they appear to think Goff is the answer
