Hope he lands in a decent spot in the draft, unlike Fields. The Bears haven't developed a QB since Sid Luckman.

Stroud SHOULD be the first pick in this draft.... but he won't... He'll likely be the 4th QB taken because AR15 blew up with some great shorts workout numbers in the 40/Vert/Broad jump... all of which serve QBs in the NFL well. my guess it'll be Bryce, AR, Levis (why no clue some team is stupid enough to talk themself into it), then CJ... I'm ok with him dropping because hopefully he ends up with a better franchise.

C.J. STROUD, QB, OHIO STATE (WINNER)​



Is Stroud the best pure passer in this class? He certainly made the argument during his throwing session. Stroud didn't bother with other individual testing like the 40, shuttle, broad jump and others. He'll wait for Ohio State's Pro Day for those. But what he did show was one of the strongest arms in the class with pinpoint accuracy downfield. He even had a chance to throw a couple of routes on air to former teammate Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Young's Pro Day at Alabama will be vital with regards to which one of these two is going No. 1.

Best team fits: Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers.

This was the toughest decision of the entire exercise. On the one hand, you have a testing freak in Anthony Richardson -- he ran a 4.43-second 40-yard dash and posted a 40 1/2-inch vertical leap -- who has elite natural ability, but showed some inconsistencies during throwing drills that were largely related to his footwork. On the other, you have Stroud, who put on a throwing clinic during on-field work, coming about as close to perfect as possible. The Ohio State QB produced dime after dime, no matter the distance or difficulty of the throw. Stroud touted his accuracy as one of his greatest strengths during Friday's media availability and backed it up with a fantastic performance, showing NFL teams exactly why they should seriously consider drafting him in April. Richardson has the higher ceiling, but Stroud is the surer choice as we depart Indianapolis.

HONORABLE MENTION: Anthony Richardson, Florida.

I personally felt Bryce should have been sunk watching him throw late over the middle against Texas. Toss in the fact he clocked in almost full inch shorter than me... I have no idea how that doesn't scare GM's. Media is going to media.

C.J. Should be #1 based on measurables and body of work. Anthony Richardson might have a solid career, but he's going to be sitting quite a long while before he's ready to be an NFL QB. As of this moment, the dude is chocolate Jake Locker. Good athlete, but you're not going to consistently get away with coming to a read late or missing over the middle and not pay the price in due time. Glad the article above mentioned his footwork, because holy hell was it spotty.

Levis is difficult to get a bead on considering just how god awful the Kentucky Oline was this season.

CJ's star will continue to rise until draft day for one simple reason: among all the top QBs, he's the one with the absolute least risk. If you pick one of the others and he turns out to be a bust, the haters will have every right to cry "I told you so;" all of them have obvious flaws that could reasonably wreck their development. With CJ, there's no obvious downside. And GMs hate to make big, predictable mistakes.

Let me add that Louis Riddick has to be the most intelligent pundit doing NFL today. His insights are incisive, and he speaks concisely and clearly. Big time talent.

Bryce is slow to process at times but magical on the off script stuff. I think he will be a good QB if he doesn't get broke. I don't know why everyone just glosses over injury concerns with him. He has been hurt twice in 2 years behind Bama's line let alone something like the Bears.

CJ is pinpoint processes well and has a tendency to fade away when pressured up the middle which can effect accuracy but he seemed to have the strongest functional arm by what I saw on the field.


Richardson reminds me more of Terrelle Pryor then Locker. Insanely high upside if he hits but can he fix all his issues is the question.


Locker reminds me more of Levis. Mediocre accuracy. Large and good but not elite generational level athlete. Cannon for an arm. I was thinking about who to compare him to for weeks and finally settled on that a week or two ago.

My Locker = AR comparison comes mostly from their feet. Both have great first step quickness on scrambles and designed runs, especially for their size. But also in the passing game when they need to reset in the pocket or slide/drift away from pressure but maintain quality mechanics. Both consistently lack that when they don't have ideally clean pockets. Watch the front foot placement for both of them, it's very 'yeseeessh'.
