QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

Curious @RB07OSU what about Burrow at time of the draft did you see that you would pick him over Stroud? I thought CJ threw one of the best out routes that I’ve seen in college. Never in danger of getting it picked. I liked his unflappable demeanor, similar to Joe. Has a good command of the offense and knows where guys are supposed to be. My concern at the next level would be his ability to read a D and check to the right play. That’s one thing that I don’t see with Day’s check to the sideline for the call.

I think he was fine reading a D. Though yes audibles is a skill we don't allow them to learn here under the check with me Offense that has been run since Meyer. So that's an unknown.

Also wow some people really hate this QB class. I have seen some people compare Stroud to Geno Smith. That's painful

Really the last couple of sentences in that post tbh. Burrow in his last season was so decisive, CJ was so indecisive at reading a defense at the line. His arm strength and accuracy is better than Burrow, his mental awareness of the game and hesitancy is what I would have pause on. I would also toss out that he predetermined a throw where he would put it on a line, but even the arm strength didn't make up for the fact that defender knew where the ball was going...MH and Egbuka bailed him out a lot honestly.

Don't get me wrong, CJ is a great prospect. But at the draft stage, I would view CJ a notch down from Burrow because he's going to need to make quick decisions and I don't see that in the first year or two from CJ. Or at least not what we saw in Columbus, he made great throws but also would panic in a perfect pocket. Again, love CJ, but as a scout without bias that would be my concern. Could be Day or other coaches, but to me it seemed to be a CJ thing.

The new narrative among “haters” and some scouts is CJ is ‘cocky aloof uncoachable’. Where did this come from? WHAC? Is it made up click bait? The basis for this is Striud ran against Georgia but the staff couldn’t get him to run against scUM for two years. It seems the longer the draft process goes the more CJ is downgraded?

It's either some team trying to get him to drop or
some other QB's PR firm most likely but yes the shit Narratives targeting at him and Fields when he was going through the draft process are gross

My favorite thing about NFL Draft Twitter when Stroud is mentioned is that it typically follows this pattern:

1). Draftnik makes an observation about Stroud
2). First 10-15 responses are people either clamoring for him to join their team or criticizing him and saying he's not a top 5 pick
3). Somewhere around post 15, the UGA people get ahold of the tweet and chime in. They correctly state that he cooked the best defense in America last year, has had ZERO off the field issues, is the ideal size and strength for the position and the Panthers are crazy to not take him #1 overall.

No idea if this is accurate, but it's out there.

The guy running the test the last week said highest ever Bryce Young wasn't accurate and nor was who was the lowest.

But yeah that's test is supposedly all read and react. At which point you'd expect him to be unable to do anything but throw to wide open receiver in front of his face and not accurately if he's not standing still cause part of it is apparently reading velocity and trajectory.

But that's what I meant when I said more assassination this morning
