QB Cardale '12 Gauge' Jones (B1G Champion, National Champion)

So does he transfer or declare?

Also, is his legacy tarnished at all from this season?
I have been critical of CJ this season, holding it too long, throwing off his back foot, not reading the defenses very well, not throwing on time or throwing guys open, etc. But in hind sight, I blame the Mongoloid JAX referred to earlier for CJs problems. It was obvious, CJ and JT BOTH regressed this year as QBs. We all know they are capable since they were both successful when they were set up to succeed, so I am laying all of the QB inconsistencies on a SORRY ASS SACK OF SHIT they had in their film room with them every day.

Hey.... leave Joey Burrows out of this

Btw, Baylor tried to win with their 3rd string QB and lost for the 3rd time in 4 games.

Shows you how clutch CJ was for us last year

Cardale Jones will leave a unique, successful legacy at Ohio State

201501131033379861583

Cardale Jones is unforgettable, and at least on that point there is unanimous agreement at Ohio State.

Figuring out exactly what the quarterback’s most lasting legacy is for the Buckeyes gets a bit more complicated after that, though, particularly since few players can match Jones when it comes to the wild variance between highs and lows.

The redshirt junior has never lost a game as the starter with the program, and he guided Ohio State through a postseason romp that produced the first national championship of the College Football Playoff era. Jones also hit send on one of the most infamous tweets college athletics has seen in the social-media age, and as his career with the Buckeyes is set to come to a close in the BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame, he’s once again back on the bench.

Victories and a fairy-tale ending? Ain't-come-to-play-school tweets or dealing with boos and accuracy issues at the Horseshoe? Just how Jones is best remembered depends on who is conjuring up their memories, but there can be no question that he left a mark with the Buckeyes that can never be erased.

NFL-BOUND CARDALE JONES: I'D HAVE SAT AT OHIO STATE NEXT YEAR RATHER THAN TRANSFER

65649_h.jpg,qitok=L5PHBCNM.pagespeed.ce.g4fuQQ1e-V.jpg

Cardale Jones said after the Michigan State game he had walked into the Horseshoe as a player for the last time. Many people, author included, assumed this to be a roundabout NFL declaration.

But the championship quarterback, remarkably, still has another year of eligibility. This season didn't go according to Jones' plans, and there'd be a bevy of programs interested in a 6'5" flamethrower, if one were to come available.

Speaking at Wednesday's Fiesta Bowl media day, however, Jones says he'd have stayed at Ohio State rather than transfer because of "loyalty to the program."

He has to go down as one of your all time favorite Buckeyes!!!

Loyalty to the program and QB-ing the team to a National Championship. It doesn't get any better than that.

My top three QBs are 1.a) Kern, 1.b) Krenzel, and 1.c) Cardale Jones; maybe Troy Smith comes in after them at #4.

On 97.1, I just heard something about CJ spreading news to reporters - naming every junior who is going to declare (pretty much every starter). I hope he had his teammates' permission even if it seems obvious.

Odd...nothing on 11W, 97.1's twitter, etc. on this. You'd think it would be all over the place by now if it happened...

But while we're talking junior starters, who was there even to name that wasn't obvious? We all know Thomas and Zeke are going pro. That only leaves Marshall.

Jones, Elliot, & Bosa for sure.

Many think Bell is a done deal.

And there are these guys Apple, Lee, Conley, Powell, Johnston, Thomas, & Price that are juniors (or RS sophomores).

Elflein has said he's coming back.

Needless to say Ohio State is going to really "take a hit" on players "going pro". As they say in football; for 2016 it is going to be "next man up".

The ozone tweeted it as well. I'm guessing it's expected so it isn't going everywhere, plus those who heard it are probably busy with the avalanche of info they're receiving

Wow, that was just my last college football practice ⏱✈️

Cardale is 23 years old (dob September 29, 1992), hopefully on track to graduate, and has a daughter (i.e. family obligations). I don't think anyone would argue that he should come back for his RS senior year. At this time in his life he is definitely ready to give the NFL a shot and/or get on with his life after college football; and I wish him the best in whatever he pursues.

Adiós Señor Jones:
