QB Cardale '12 Gauge' Jones (B1G Champion, National Champion)

Sucks to be in that group. Embarrassing how some fans treated this kid.
I'd like to think I wasn't disrespectful toward him... I just didn't think his style fit our offense. Now however I just don't think our guys were set up for success... Either of them.

Just because JT can run the ball doesn't mean you run him every play. In fact he becomessage more dangerous when teams arent geared to stop it

Let's take a step back to think about the bizzaro world the coaches (presumably most Beck) has made of this team. We have a NC winning QB who comes in this season and looks so bad that we all breath a sigh of relief when he is benched.

But after some very honest self reflection with a bad loss it is more than likely it was just a matter of poor play calling. Herman knew what to do with CJ, he played to his strengths. This year we try to force him to play a scheme with a predictable option that even a mobile JT couldn't make work well. CJ actually has decent completion % all things considered but still looks bad.

We get JT in and feel like things are working only because he can marginally do better in this shitty scheme against weak opponents and we feel better for a moment.

End of day Beck, with Urbans apparent tacit approval, has managed to make two QBs that shredded opponents look like MAC back ups.

It's clear that Herman had more to do with the success of the offensive than Urban. That or Urban just handed off more on Beck and Co or didnt get the fire lit. But either way Urban didn't get it done in the first place or at least not down the stretch by tightening the leash on Beck. This wasn't one game, this was all season but everyone just let the runaway train wreck gain speed since wins were continuing.

But I digress... After 5 games I would have guessed that CJs return cost him a few rounds in the draft and a ton of money. Now who knows, it's almost back to be an unknown quantity again because it is clear you really can't base his potential off 2015 tape because the offensive play calling and scheming was so inept it was criminal.

Bottom line, CJ, I hope for you to have a lot of success in the NFL but regardless I will always remember you for your 2014 stretch and not the shit show you were thrown into in the 2015 season.

Cardale Jones ‏@CJ12_ 1m1 minute ago

Last time walking down them steps and into The Shoe, wish the results were different tho

Buckeyes' Cardale Jones, Ezekiel Elliott indicate they're heading to NFL

Entire article: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...zekiel-elliott-indicate-theyre-heading-to-nfl

I have no idea why anyone thinks this is all of a sudden big time news and wants to link with to the MSU loss. Hey, Cardale Jones coming back this year was a bonus.

Just sayin': So far in my lifetime Cardale Jones, Craig Krenzel, and Rex Kern go down as the "BIG THREE" of QBs at Ohio State, i.e. they quarterbacked Ohio State to a National Championship. The "brass ring" for a National Championship doesn't come around very often; and Cardale seized the opportunity and really grabbed it in impressive fashion too.

Best of luck, Cardale. Just keep your nose clean and you're a made man in Columbus, OH for the rest of your life. You'll never have to pay for a drink in this town. I hope you finish your degree. After football is over, you'll always get an interview for any job you want in Ohio. The door is always open.

Count me in as someone who was calling for Cardale yesterday. I love JT, and I know he is handcuffed by "others."
Never crossed my mind as I was sitting in the stadium. Why Zeke wasn't in the game and getting the ball was what most folks were wondering. Of course that was in concert with the constant WTF with the play calling. But, I didn't hear anyone wondering where or asking got CJ...

I agree. Towards the end of the 2nd half, JT Barrett just missed Braxton Miller on a long pass play. Miller had beaten the defender (i.e. he was a good step ahead of him); however, the pass was just over thrown by what looked like less than a yard. I was sitting in the stadium the second half and wondering why we didn't try that play again; or at least some longer pass plays down the middle.

Agreed. Only tested length one or two times. Although, I seem to remember JT getting hit during the release to Braxton. Maybe there wasn't the protection. :who knows:

Meyer's post game: "We lost the line of scrimmage." Michigan State loaded the box. "The passing game just was not there." The conditions were tough, but "that was a very poor performance."

Just sayin': It would be interesting to get a more detailed analysis as to why "The passing game just was not there". And if it was the protection, why didn't they try some things to counter MSU's pass rush; i.e. screens, quick passes (3 or 5 step drops), roll out passes, etc.

I saw a LOT of the emboldened, but oftentimes, they were to the left and it seemed like JT never got set. On one sack he ran beyond Decker's protection. Just something they're not used to doing, I imagine.

One thing I'm curious about is if this loss actually HELPS Cardale's draft stock. It was clear as day last night that the offensive problems had very little to do with CJ and more to do with horrible coaching. You have to wonder if an NFL team doesn't take a chance on him if CJ lights it up at the combine.

Barrett did have a defender in his face if not hitting him when he threw that ball. I don't know if he had much time to throw the whole game. Give MSU credit for having a good D-line.
