QB Cardale '12 Gauge' Jones (B1G Champion, National Champion)

Let's look at it this way... We have a couple of built in advantages here.

1.) He's a Glenville kid.
2.) We know he's not likely deciding early...
3.) He's going to be camping like the other Glenville kids, so we'll get an up close eval one more time (will have a chance to distinguish himself from Cole Stoudt in front of the staff, since I believe both will be there).

Given the above 3 reasons, I see no sense in rushing to an offer. We have offers out to Miller and Randall who are likely 1A and 1B on the staff's QB board... Then Jones is right there in that next tier. I'm almost positive we want 2 QB's this year, so the chances of Cardale seeing an offer once we know what Miller and Randall are doing are pretty good IMO...

I just hope 1A and 1B are not signing day decisions....

Rivals $ - The OV Review: Cardale Jones
March 1, 2010
Mike Parris

OhioVarsity.com

Jones' highlights show a creative QB who is a playmaker with elite athleticism... Dangerous with his arm & legs, he has the frame to withstand a pass rush & be a tough runner when needed... Has had an up & down career so far but once he settles in & finds his comfort zone, could be a dynamic D1 QB...

Hosting multiple junior days in the winter allows Michigan to cater to the schedules of more prospects and ultimately gets more recruits on campus. One prospect who could not make either of Michigan?s previous two junior days but will be in attendance on Saturday is Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville quarterback Cardale Jones (6-5, 217 pounds), who received a Michigan offer last month.

"I plan to go to the Night of Champions because I had gotten that (invitation) in the mail a couple days ago and it really interested me,? Jones said. ?I will be looking forward to meeting the coaches. It's hard to find out the coaches' backgrounds, their interest in you, how you get along with them and the chemistry with a coach through the Internet."

Other prospects who said they would attend the Night of Champions include Plymouth defensive end Brennen Beyer, Inkster running back Da?shawn Bell, Cleveland Kennedy offensive lineman Chris Carter, Kankakee (Ill.) Bishop McNamara offensive lineman Matt Frazier and Maple Heights, Ohio, wide receiver Shaquille Washington.

Spartans looking to Ohio for QB

According to the rivals.com database, Michigan State has extended scholarship offers to only two quarterbacks at this point and both are from the state of Ohio. The first is Connor Cook of Walsh Jesuit High School and the second is Cardale Jones of Cleveland Glenville High. Both players were offered their scholarships around the same date.

Both Cook and Jones are viewed as pro-style quarterbacks, even though each has the ability to take off and run if need be. With Ohio State focusing on dual-threat quarterback Braxton Miller of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Michigan having a potential log jam with sophomores Tate Forcier, Denrard Robinson and in-for-spring freshman Devin Gardner, Michigan State could be an attractive option.

The fact that both Kirk Cousins and Keith Nichol are entering their junior seasons should be a positive recruiting factor.

Top 5 unoffered players

1 - Cardale Jones, QB, Glenville. I think we will see an offer to him as I believe the staff is going to take two quarterbacks but they had two offers out before they ever heard about Jones. I am no longer so optimistic that we have a good shot at Randall. He did not even mention Ohio State in his latest interview but did show a willingness to get far away from home as Oregon looks like his favorite.

I seriously doubt that.
