- No way Jones grayshirts. This is not a scenario that happens often, mostly because it is a commitment to pay for a year of school. Almost any player with other big time offers will take four or five free years at a decent school, over paying a year here. Especially when you consider that most don't have a money tree in their back yard. I sometimes feel like this is thrown around as a viable option, ever since Boeckman did it...that is an "almost never happens" deal. I'd be surprised if I see it again in the next 10 years.
- The battle here is grades. The answer isn't Ohio State or Toledo...it's Toledo or JC with a CHANCE to go to Ohio State, someday.

Congrats, Cardale!

Ohio State signee Cardale Jones from Glenville says he is committed to playing for the Buckeyes despite Jim Tressel's resignation.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Ohio State signee Cardale Jones of Glenville is not going to let the resignation of Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel change his mind on which school he wants to play for.
"I saw the news Monday morning on ESPN," said Jones, a quarterback who will grayshirt. "I was disappointed and still am. It bothers me but it doesn't affect my decision."
Jones feels he belongs at OSU.
"I'm still going to Ohio State because I'm an Ohio kid," he said. "To me, OSU means they get the best players from the state so that means I'm one of them. Who coaches there doesn't affect my decision but I'm sure [Tressel] did what's best for the program."
Grayshirting is applied to a player who signs a letter of intent in February, but doesn't report to the school in the fall. He delays entry until midyear and the NCAA five-year clock doesn't start until the player enrolls as a full-time student.
Jones will attend a prep school before enrolling at OSU in January.

There are bound to be some questions as to what the future holds for football players as they head off to college.
Given the recent happenings at Ohio State, some would likely assume Buckeye commit Cardale Jones would be second-guessing his decision to head to Columbus. But as he prepares to lead the Ohio team in this year?s Big 33 Football Classic, the quarterback said there was never a question where he?d be playing in college.
?I?m just a loyal person, and Ohio State has been loyal to me over the past two or three years,? Jones said. ?I?m going to stick with them.?
Jones said the adversity facing the current Buckeye players will force everyone on the team, especially the quarterbacks, to ?grow up very fast.?
Though he?ll be just a true freshman, the 6-foot-5 Jones said he?s ready to compete for the quarterback position at Ohio State, vacated by Terrelle Pryor.
After seeing Jones? performances in this week?s practices, Ohio head coach Matt Dennison said he can see the potential threat the quarterback can pose for defenses.
?Cardale?s got a lot of talent. He?s got a rocket for an arm,? Dennison said. ?He?s really caught on quick to what we?re trying to do. He?s making really good decisions out there.?
