QB Cardale '12 Gauge' Jones (B1G Champion, National Champion)

I smell Patriots draft in 5th round. I hope not because I hate them but he'll have a year or two to play behind Brady and possibly step into their offense. Not a lot of mobility needed to run it and they always develop their Olines.

No chance the pats take him. And you think brady could be gone in a couple years? Or even one??

He'll be 39... how many QBs really go into their 40s? It can go downhill pretty fast too.
Peyton Manning - 2 years ago he was setting records... now at 39, he's a liability.
Favre - made it to 41. He too had a pretty good 4k season before being dogshit his last year.
Kurt Warner made it to 38
John Elway made it to 38... not unlike Manning with a Super Bowl but not playing as well and getting regular season support
Marino made it to 38
Montana made it to 38
S. Young made it to 38

Working off this list, the only outlier I could find was Warren Moon (44)... and 38 seems to be a recurring number.

Nobody would be surprised if Tom Brady is down within the next 2 years. His numbers are still strong, so he could take after Favre or Moon too I suppose.

Didn't they just draft a QB of the future in the past year or 2? I think the Steelers would be a better option especially for a kid from Cleveland.

All those guys on the list actually threw the ball down field and didn't go into fetal position when the slightest bit of pressure came. Brady probably has the wear on his tires of a 30 year old QB with all the hits he runs away from.

...and defenders are reluctant to hit him in the first place, what with the move Brady's perfected where he immediately turns and whines to the official anytime he is touched by a defender.

12-Gauge looking good at the Pro Day. Watching on from DVR so I'm a bit behind, but he's slinging it.

Brooks, Jeremiah and Davis (guys calling the Pro Day for NFL Network) are all saying good things. They pretty much note that he's likely developmental, pretty much what has been said here. Draft him with the intention of being a back up for a couple of years to learn the system. But damn... he's really slinging it.

We always knew that he could sling it, just not accurately... A couple of years to get to know a specific system would do him. He's going to need a good deal of help dissecting defenses as well

Listened to one interview with him today. It was short, but they played some clips and asked him what he was thinking and how the play developed. He was well spoken and it sounded like a good interview, but I remember last year watching a similar video with Winston and there is a pretty big difference in the ability to dissect the defense and adapt to make the right reads pre-snap and post-snap. Now one of them was a 1st overall and expected to be a starter year one, and the other is a developmental guy, but it's more than just accuracy and footwork that needs development. If he wants to be a top 10 QB in 5 years there is a lot of learning to do.

Considering how many shitty QBs there are in the NFL, I think he'll make it. Time to learn a system and develop a bit of polish, he'll be fine. Happy to see how he threw today. There were only a couple of passes that weren't great... One over Brax's head in the red zone drills... One where he and EzE weren't on the same page (also red zone) and one to Brax, a quick slant I think, that was a bit low. Looked like his feet were messed up on that throw. Overall, he showed out well.

Though I partly agree, Cardale isn't close to being ready to play in the NFL. Even the worst QBs would school Cardale, and defenses would embarrass him. And I'm not dogging him, just being honest, as to state like earlier that he's a developmental guy. I put little stock in a pro day or combine, as his film is much more accurate to his ability at this point. Like @TampaBuckeyes said, he has a lot of learning to do to be even a competent backup QB in the NFL. Developing a polish and taking to learn a system signifies that he's somewhat close to playing at the highest level of football. He was still a kid who was benched mid season, benched because of his play. He has all of the tools to succeed, but he needs to sit for a while and really learn. If he can go to a team that doesn't need him to play for a few years because they have an established QB(i.e. Dallas, New England, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New Orleans, Kansas City, Arizona, San Diego) he can be in a great position to grab hold of the reins after a few years of studying lots of defenses, working on footwork, touch and accuracy.

May be right on all counts but I don't hold _anyone's_ performance this season -- at least on the offense -- against them as a player. With coaching as it was, it would be like driving a Ferrari eleven miles over speed bumps... Only to have the road clear up for the final two miles of the trip.
