he's athletic but I don't think he could cut it at OSU at any other position.
why dont you think he could cut it at any other postion at OSU? he's got pretty good size and ok speed and has played WR in high school according to previous posts. do you just see us as having more skilled players at positions he could play and than wont find the field? i definitely think he makes a good QB in the future but im just wondering what you may mean by this?

He's not as good as Ginn, Gonzalez, Lyons, Dukes and probably also behind Hartline, Amos and other future possibilities (Fred Davis?, Wesley Lyons).

I don't mean he's not athletic, but you have to be extremely gifted to see the field at OSU at most positions. He just did not strike me as gifted enough to be a WR for the buckeyes.

However I was impressed with his skills at QB, I'm happy about bringing him onboard, whenever that becomes official.

If this really is a commitment, and it's accepted, what does it do to Nate Davis, Hartline and Tim Tebow?

Would JT take another QB -- either an 'athlete' (Davis) or as a true QB, with Henton considered an 'athlete' who could play another position?
VERY little chance of taking another QB. Troy, Justin, Todd and Rob are already on board...Henton is definately a QB, not just an athlete playing the position. I was impressed with his scrambling ability, but didn't feel his athleticism translates to the WR position at the next level.

I couldn't see the staff taking another QB even if Tebow wanted to come now. I've got the impression that we were shooting for the top players because getting a signal-caller this year wasn't a necessity. THAT is probably what coaxed Henton into commiting early...The guy that waited was going to get left out.

I'm definately pleased with the one we got. We now have three young and totally different packages at quarterback:

Accurate, Good Arm- Boeckman
Gunslinging, Cannon Arm- Schoencroft
Scrambler, Great Arm - Henton

Henton's 19:5 TD to Interception ratio is exceptional. Not many NFLers who can boast accuracy like that. I assume that was a huge plus in JT's eyes -- the old "QBs who don't make mistakes" school of coaching.

Go ahead and make your announcement, Antonio. You've got a lot of folks in BuckeyeNation excited about your prospects.

Antonio did verbal originally but wanted to give his parents the respect of discussion first. It is now official.

So it appears the guys at BuckeyeSports.com were right all along...big shocker there. I know that's not good for other sites and their feeble attempts to get new subscribers. Score one for BSB.

Welcome aboard, Mr. Henton. :)

It looks to me with a little coaching on some of his throws and footwork that he will be a good qb. I wonder if he is one of those guys that likes to pull it down and run when he is being chased or if he can roll away from a kid and throw away from his body or to a kid on the sideline.

Troy seems to get better at this since the year went on and really opened things up when he booted out to spead the d a little; especialy with the recievers over the middle, clearing guys out.

If anybody, for some strange reason, was still holding out until BN posted the commit, you can now begin breathing again, as they have now done so. :tongue2:

I think Frito's quick stat analysis is a good read on how Henton may be viewed in the coaches eyes - and no mistake.

Welcome aboard Antonio -- you'll have every chance to be the best you can in Columbus, OH.
