You remember the few plays Henton was in this year? IIRC, about 1/3 or more were pass plays...

I think that was more due to the slowness of the legal process than what the actual charge was.....I could be wrong, but if you look at what JT has said, it was all about Henton "completing the process".....

OK, maybe he was guilty - and maybe not. But I really have a problem with JTs policy of waiting till the legal system takes care of matters.

Why? Because it is biased against an innocent kid.

The guilty kid will plead out and take his suspension immediately. He is able to bypass the wheels that grind exceedingly slow.

The innocent kid - and let's give Antonio the proverbial benefit of the doubt for a moment and say he was innocent - wants to go to court and be heard. But to do that he has to wait on the legal process. So he serves 7 weeks for friggin loitering? Even if it was soliciting was that seven games?

In the end I guess he did get screwed for his $19.

Ok disregard the above. I don't know if there is very much JT can do. His hands are basically tied. On one, he has a kid who has talent and would really benefit from the playing time, but on the other he has the standards and discipline of the team to worry about. Just saying......

I went back game-by-game to look at Henton's stats:

YSU: 5 plays - 3 handoffs, 2 passes (1-2, 37 yards, 1 TD)
Akron: 1 play - as wideout
Wash: 6 plays - 4 handoffs, 2 runs (10 yards)
N'west: Bunch - 2-4 passing (20 yards), 7 runs (31 yards)

He has nine carries for 41 yards and is 3-6 passing for 57 yards and 1 TD, when he's not handing off. Keep in mind the YSU and Washington games he was in clock-kill mode while against Northwestern Tressel loosened the reigns a little.

Should Henton see the field against Michigan, I'd venture to say that while it likely would be in a option-run mode, he'd be allowed to pass more than most would expect.

I still say that he won't get any PT this weekend. And if he does, it's because even Schoenhoft is blowing Michigan out. But I'd rather see Ohio State win this game (or any game, for that matter) than win some vbet. If the running-quarterback attack is what it takes to win this game, then let's use it.

I agree. It seemed to me that Henton would be back to pass, and at the first sign of trouble, he'd run. While that's not a good thing in many situations, it's shown that it can beat Michigan. Troy did a good job of escaping Michigan's rush, and then finding the open receiver for 3 years. Whereas if he had run with the ball, he might have gotten "only" 5 yards. That's still a pretty effective play. My point is that I can see Tressel giving Henton passing plays to run, knowing that Henton can and will run the ball if he has the opportunity.

As far as this goes:

1. there is no coincidence in the timing. osu wanted this set for trial weeks ago, but this was the first open date.

2. the bottom line was that the cop's story was that even though henton never really verbally "accepted" her offer, she claims he nodded his head in a motion for her to get in his car. That's when she told him to turn down the alley, but he drove away.

3. the deal he got was as soft a deal as you can give sans a not guilty verdict.

4. henton was basically told that it would come down to a he said/she said in trial, and he had to make a choice. the prosecution's offer was as plush as it gets for the situation. henton made a judgement call in taking the deal.

Should have taken it weeks ago. Why he waited is a mystery.
