Purdue Boilermakers (official thread)

semi serious question. did anyone, and i do mean anyone, even consider the possibility that a purdue player could have possibly been injured as a result of this?

on the hazel bit, i kinda feel bad for the guy. he strikes me as a good coach and a good person. but at no point did i ever think purdue was a good job for him. but only because i don't think purdue is a good job for any living person. i have no idea what their thinking is. i watched part of their press conference today on btn. they seem reasonably delusional on their options.
Les Miles is coming any minute now.

Aaaaany minute.

Not surprised.

Tiller - legendary push broom mustache = great success.
Hope - Ok mustache, but not as sweet as Tiller's = some success, but not as much as Tiller.
Hazell - No mustache = no success.

I want to see what a guy with a molestache can do.

Whoever dare take this job has their work cutout for them to say the least

Last 3 recruiting classes (according to 247)

2016 - 80th just ahead of UNLV and Umass
2015 - 65th just ahead of Iowa State
2014 - 69th just ahead of Temple

this year they currently sit at 65th, trailing such powers as UT-San Antonio, Toledo, Oregon State and Illinois

MAC type talent with not much if any enthusiasm surrounding the program = good luck for the new guy.

Purdue has sunk a ton of money into their facilities over the last few years, which should help with their recruiting. Being just outside of Chicago and Indy they certainly are in proximity to some solid recruiting beds.

I think the question becomes what type of coach makes the most sense. You have your retreads that have been tossed from other programs, your hot coordinator of the year, or your MAC level coach looking to move up. I really wonder whether PJ Fleck would have any more success at Purdue then Hazell had.

West Lafayette makes Waco look like fucking Newport Beach.

I've been to WL. I've been to Newport Beach. I've never been to Waco.

Based on this, I'll never go to Waco.

Aside: You should apply for a job at the WL tourism bureau. You make it sound like paradise while I know that all there is in that town is a hot dog place before I turn right to get to the highway and some G&R tribute museum of hair-metal-bang-head-and-screeeeeeeeech.

Possibility of someone like PJ Fleck going to Purdue? Slim chance in my opinion but only if he isn't getting any better offers.

I think it'd be a good fit for him in some senses.....B1G gig, it's an area he knows (Illinois born), very low expectations, pays well, and most importantly the AD and board are very patient. It's the same reason I thought Iowa State was a good spot for Campbell.

Now Purdue will mess this up and hire Beck or Don Brown or something ridiculous but Fleck makes a whole bunch of sense, as does Jeff Brohm at WKU.

Who knows, maybe Dantonio takes flight for LSU and Fleck gets to slide into East Lansing!
