PSU sanctions - 4-yr bowl ban, wins since 1998 vacated, $60M fine

You say foolish..I say that it's going to be hilarious watching Penn State end their season getting thumped in Honolulu

I seem to remember that happening to Alabama in the early 2000's when they were on a bowl ban. Maybe "thumped" wasn't the right word.

I found a link to ESPN and clicked it before I checked it out. Crap. Anyway, it looks like it was 2003, and Alabama lost something like 37-26. I seem to remember reading about it when it happened - Alabama's plan for a bowl game backfired when they lost that game.

So, back to your post, yes, it will be funny to hear (I probably won't watch it) that Penn State got thumped by Hawaii. And that's not a knock on Hawaii - it will be fun to hear about EVERY thumping they get.

There is now a thread on Audibles titled "Low Morals".

It is not a thread about Sandusky raping boys.
It is not a thread about Penn State covering up the raping of boys.

It is a thread about other schools poaching Penn State players.

It won't be thumping. More like, "rhythmic slapping" on the field.

I like that most B1G schools are taking the high road here, not actively pursuing Penn State players. It would be quite odd to go to a conference rival and play your former school in these circumstances. As BB73 said in another thread, it would be "unseemly."

PS - you stay classy, Illini.

Might be 'unseemly', but if the young man has a chance to play elsewhere without the stigma of the cult over his head, I'd imagine any coach would give him the opportunity if they could.

Nevertheless - if any of us think that our own coaches in the B1G (Meyer, Pelini, etc) aren't pursuing players at Ped State because of a sense of honor or reverence to Joe Pa.....you are sadly mistaken, IMHO.

They just aren't poaching because they've got their squads all lined up......and quite frankly, poaching from Ped State at this time would be like raccoon rummaging through the garbage at this point. Other than Redd, their roster isn't that talented. Well, there IS their kicker....

Not sure what Urban's take on this was, but yesterday in the Media Day presser Bo said we're not actively pursuing kids, but if they contact us we'll do our due diligence. That's OK. We just don't need to be sending coaches there, and ESPECIALLY not without getting express permission from PSU and/or O'Brien.
