I got V. Tennis 3. Very good, not the greatest user interface during Tournament mode. Great Gameplay.

Tournament -build a character and become number 1- Practicing, Resting, or participating requires calendar days to go byin the game but I have yet to find what year I am in or how many years I have been playing. Practice games are used to raise skill level - most I use them for entertainment BECAUSE-> Game play is fabulous but repeative. As you level up, you may level up faster then the competition, My first 5 tournies I didnt not lose a single point - not game! I mean POINT! N ow the games are slightly competitive as I am ranked 78th after starting at 300. Difficulty needs to increase quickly or I am gonna be board soon.

Exibition mode- basically play now. My 8 daughter and 14 year old brother in law picked up the game immediately- very good learning curve. Exibition is a chance to play anyone versus anyone no holds barred.

Thats all so far in my 3 days with the game

I ended up picking up Virtua Tennis 3 a week ago when it came out. Definitely think it is the most entertaining game I have played on the PS3 so far, I will agree with the poster above about repetitive game play in career mode. I did make it to the number one slot which requires winning 6 games in one match, against a tough CPU.

Old news since the SKUs disappeared from stores shelves and online catalogs months ago, but Sony finally confirms that the PS3 20Gb has been canceled.

Initial retail demand in North America was upwards of ninety percent in favor of the 60GB SKU, so we manufactured and shipped-in accordingly. Due to the overwhelming demand for the 60GB model from both retailers and consumers, we have ceased offering the 20GB model here in North America.

Blu-ray claims upper ground in format war


Samsung's widely anticipated announcement of a dual-format Blu-ray and HD DVD player could spell a truce in the format war between high definition formats.
To date, the two formats have been roughly neck and neck overall but the trend shows that Blu-ray could be gaining more of a foothold. If this continues, then dual format players could be a lifeline for HD DVD, even though it could effectively prolong the battle.
The market is more established for both formats in the US. According to Nielsen VideoScan data (released via Sony), cumulative sales for Blu-ray Disc titles have reached 844,000 as of 18 March, while HD DVD totalled 708,600. The figures also suggest that by that week Blu-ray was outselling HD DVD by a ratio of 9:2.

Creator of God of War Says Blu-ray not needed in PS3

The creator of the highly lucrative God of War franchise, David Jaffe, has come out and bashed Sony a bit stating that the Blu-ray player was not something which Sony should have put in the expensive next-generation console. Jaffe stated that if he could change one thing about the PlayStation 3, he would remove the Blu-ray player and sold the console for a cheaper price for the consumers.

How else are you going to get a 25-50gig format for expansive games?

Would you rather a gamecube-esque format that would be totally useless to the non-gaming consumer?

I am glad we have BR. Maybe its not in full effect now, but can you imagine after the developers grasp the CPU power, what 50gigs of hi-def gaming content could have in store?---look at God of War 2 for PS2, F'ing beautiful, the PS3 is going to be stupid good in the coming years....

Me too, I dig the Blu Ray. 50 gigs will go a looong way in the next year or so.. and all you 360 guys will have to PURCHASE a HD DVD drive instead of having one on board. Wii is safe though, with it's N64 graphics :wink2: but in all seriousness, the BR ain't all that bad.. the standalone BR players are about as expensive as the cheaper version was.

There won't be any 50Gb games any day soon, that's pure marketing fantasy. The drive I/O is not fast enough, there is not enough system memory, and game studios cannot spend $200 million on production crews to net $40 million on retail sales. This has been confirmed by virtually every single PS3 developer.

Even the Bethesda Softworks dev team went so far as to admit that the load times for Oblivion were so bad, they just used the extra capacity to duplicate the data all over the Blu Ray disc to cut out the seek times and speed up I/O.

yep, it's 2x read speed completely precludes it from accessing 50gigs of info in any kind of resonable time(or else, turn on console, play game 1 hour later).

Sony put the blu-ray in to pimp blu-ray, it was their way of feeding it to the masses............unfortunately for them, it could also have killed blu ray and it's successful PS franchise all at once.................but maybe they didn't we'll see.
