great point and i agree 100%. look at the Red Light District in Amsterdam. America would profit so much if they legalized alot of things that are illegal and consist of a crime commited if caught:shake:

That seems to be more the idea in Amsterdam, no victim, no crime. Granted there are exceptions, but they aren't as harsh as here. It wasn't common when I went there for my 21st to have people walk up to me on the streets asking if I wanted stuff I couldn't get in the health food stores or the coffee houses. Cops would be nearby but they would just sort of look away.

Using the phrase "victimless crime" displays a pre-conceived notion that the act should be a crime in the first place.

It's sex for money, ideally between two people who enter into the business agreement with eyes wide open. That, plain and simple, completely stripped of all associated criminal acts that can, and do, arise from the fact that the basic money for sex act has been criminalized, should not be a crime at all. That, at its most basic ideal, is victimless.

To repeat:

"Hi, I would like to have sex with you and I will pay you."
"Hi, I'm ok with that, give me x amount of money."

That is victimless. That should not be a crime. It's a basic business transaction, money exchanged for a service rendered.

Is can be quiets time nao?

I'm conservative in many ways, but this to me is ridiculous. The lack of logic is frightening. You can give it to me but I can't pay for it? Worse, I can't pay to screw you, but if I'm holding a camera I can pay you to screw me or someone else, as long as I sell it as a movie?

Makes absolutely no sense to me. As for beating a woman, or murder, or any of the other things that can bleed into prostitution...those things are alreay illegal. Making sex for money illegal doesn't make them more illegal, nor does it prevent them. Prostitution should be 100% legal, and if there were safe ways and places to do it, if the girls had a panic button, the rest of the crimes wouldn't happen as often either.

Interesting debate. Victimless blah blah. Legalize blah blah. The fact is that this falls somewhere in the middle. There is nothing healthy about prostitution and I feel sorry for the women who engage in it. There is nothing despicable about prostitution and I think the women have a right to do what they want. Another gray area. But as a Buckeye fan, I'm not going to crusade for legalized prostitution because one of our players has gotten caught in the web. That's "situational morality" of the highest order...Let's have this debate at another time...

Debates thought are brought to the front due to current events...When did this start happening? Situational morality my ass. Most, if not all, of the people that have responded probably felt the way that they've protrayed in this thread for a long time. There was just no reason to bring it up.

It's legal to sell things.
It's legal to fuck.

It's illegal to sell fucking?

I say now, as I've said long prior to any current events, prostitution should be legal. Won't mean I'd partake, as I have a huge desire to stay VD free, but that's just me.
