Preseason and Regular Season Polls (2015)

Stanford are ranked 2 spots behind USC because they have identical records and Stanford won by 10 at USC.

Should've scheduled Arkansas State instead... or even the real Arkansas.
These polls are like a demonstration of how they've held the sport back for decades... punish Stanford for scheduling P5, don't reward Northwestern for scheduling 2 P5s... meanwhile USC gets benefit of doubt because all the pollsters wrote about how great they'd be in the off season and can't admit the truth.

You could replace "USC" with "Auburn" in that last sentence and it'd still be true. The worst thing about the polls is they start doing them before a game is played so teams have to work against preconceptions, regardless of what is happening on the field. They'd be less of a joke if the first poll came out in October.

I actually root for a Texas and USC comeback.
The Big 10 and ACC cant be the only ones beating up on the SEC.

Also, the biggest reason Ole Miss beat Alabama...Bama had 5 turnovers.
A single turnover creates such a huge momentum shift.
Ask Ohio St. how easy it is to win with 5 turnovers, against a MAC opponent no less.

Or the fact that many pollsters still place weight on where a team was in the polls and how far they decide to move them up. Since Stanford was unranked and USC was #6 how could any reasonable voter put Stanford ahead of USC. (missing the sarcasm font) Then again, that thought process didn't stop them from moving Ole Miss from #15 to #3...SEC, SEC, SEC.

Based on resume for this season only, I would have Ole Miss or Michigan St #1 if I had a ballot.

Buckeyes are Top 5 because they've proved they have a Top 5 defense, but that's tenuous until they solve the offense's identity crisis.
I don't know if I'd put MSU ahead of Ohio State honestly. I think our win over VaTech on the road was equally, if not more impressive, than MSU's win at home against Oregon. VaTech has looked VERY solid since we pasted them at their place.

I actually think Georgia might be the best team in the country right now. Think they're the most underrated team in the poll. Richt's consistency in jumping the shark late in the season probably plays into this.

I don't mind the early season polls. Sometimes it is fun to see how wrong they are. But when one team beats another team, in the other team's home stadium, at night, and looks like a better team, they should be ranked accordingly.

I mean, when you beat #2 by two scores in their house, you get a big bump.

As much as I want to buy you steak and bourbon for posting this, it's probably too soon.

This is a very good UGA team. The best defense since the 2007 Sugar bowl win over Hawaii, but still a bit untested against quality opponents.

(Gentlemen and Ladies, you have no idea how happy I am to conclude a Spurrier team is not a quality opponent)
