Premier League (Official Thread)

It sure looks crisis time there now. Man United should have been able to win this game with their reserves. They have tremendous debt and owners that are bleeding the club for money. They have a chairman who doesn't seem to know dick about the sport and is spending vast amounts on players - far more than some of them are worth. They have no defense and an egotistical manager who is trying to shoehorn a formation that doesn't suit his squad and doesn't suit the league. They are playing the worst football of any Premier League team at the moment. They don't have European football this season and they don't look likely to get it for next season either.

At this rate we're just a few months away from Tim Sherwood writing a column saying he's no longer interested in the Manchester United job because they aren't a big enough club for him.
:slappy: Oh SNAP on the last part

I mean yeah, I would have thought that the second team could at least keep that game competitive...maybe a 1-0 loss or something, but damn...to get stomped by a team 2 leagues down says very little to their depth, at the VERY least. Tactically, I don't think any of them know WTF they are supposed to be doing.

Commence with the Airing of Grievances:

Was hoping for a draw for Spurs, but a loss was deserved after that performance. Abysmal. The back four is a patchwork like it always seems to be for this club. Hopefully some of the new purchases (besides Dier) begin to assert themselves in some way.

We just sold our captain, and I don't see a man worthy of the armband in the bunch. First sign of adversity and they fall to pieces.

Raheem Sterling is the truth. Will be interesting to see how long Liverpool can hold onto him. Real Madrid will come sniffing around before long.

That penalty awarded to Joe Allen was a fucking sham. What a disgrace. Spurs were never going to win at that point, but that decision stuck a pin in that game and killed any chance of grabbing at least a point.

I don't mind Liverpool as a club, but their fans (present company in this thread excluded) are the fucking worst. They are the most smug and perpetually aggrieved of all Premier League fans. They are Notre Dame and the St. Louis Cardinals. I'd rather be stuck in a bar full of Arsenal fans than be in one with a single Liverpool fan.

I agree with you on Sterling, I think RM will probably start after him when the window opens again and hope to have him next year. The truth is once you have a good player, either RM or Barca come out of the woodwork and offer insane amounts of money for them.

As for fans, we have the MUFC fans here that I feel that way about, truth be told, most of the honest to goodness scousers I have met have been some of the cooler people where most of the Mancs I have met have been pretty hot headed. Although with soccer fans in general I don't get a lot of the attitude they have, I understand being passionate, I don't understand being threatening.

I love deadline day. The only spectacle in this country that matches it is NLOID.

Chicharito is being loaned to Real Madrid. That's a head scratcher. I guess RM will sell more shirts in Mexico now

Falcao being loaned to Man United. They are collecting some top-class players, but none of them are addressing their glaring needs. 606 jokingly posted this potential team sheet for them:

In reality, United would be in great shape if they find a way to add just one decent CB and abandon that stupid three at the back formation for a 4-3-3.

It is amazing to me that they keep buying attacking players when anyone can see that the defense is simply not up to par. Jonny Evans is quite possibly the worst excuse for a CB ever to play as many games for the 1st team. Chris Smalling is a mystery and while I like Phil Jones, I am not sure he is really getting any better. I also wish the 3-5-2 would go away and the would play a version of a 4-3-3.

They're letting this supposed Falcao deal go all the way to the wire. Suits Sky Sports just fine I guess.

Also, did anybody else see the part where the reporter got a purple dildo shoved in his face? LULZ. They also have to keep apologizing for people in the crowds yelling "fuck her right in the pussy!"

That was a clear penalty. He grabbed him just enough to stop his forward momentum and turn him before letting go. That's a penalty 100% of the time.

The powers that be were not exactly kind to Aston Villa. After their nice start, their next 5 matches are:
(A) Liverpool
(H) Arsenal
(A) Chelsea
(H) Man City
(A) Everton

Side note, having an international break after 3 matches is a bit of a buzzkill.
