Funny thing is, the club will still have money left over too (if/when Bale is sold).

I read somewhere that if all of the projected deals go down at the rumored prices, Spurs' net spend over the last three seasons would be a paltry 9 million pounds. Most of the incoming money would come from the sales of Modric and Bale of course, but they have also done solidly on a lot of lower profile sales, extracting very favorable fees for middling players. If that 9 million figure is true, it's amazing considering how much they've bought and how big they've spent over the last two windows.

I like Bale. I wanted him to stay, didn't believe he'd be going until next year for the longest time. If anyone could have convinced me though that the club would be this aggressive in spending the money to strengthen the squad, then I would have been saying my goodbyes to Bale long before now.

They showed this Gunners supporter on "Crowd Goes Wild" on FS1.

I like him. He sounds very frustrated.

I'm interested to see this Chelsea - Villa match tomorrow. The Blues looked great albeit against Hull, and Villa were the beneficiaries of some questionable cards against Koscielny. McGregor had some good spots and some absolute blunders against the Blues, but Guzan and Villa in general should be a better test for Chelsea. Plus, it's a midweek match so I'm glad we don't have to wait until Saturday.

All due respect, the penalty call to Villa in that match was proper if you go back and look at the replay. Koscielny had his right leg into the back of Gabby's rear leg before he made contact with the ball. It was a reckless challenge.

Villa probably would have gained a point at Stamford yesterday if Ivanovic had been sent off for the elbow to Benteke's head OR if Terry had been called for the handball. If you want to talk questionable officiating.

Fair. I even said during the broadcast from the referee's angle I understand the penalty. From the TV angle it looked very close, that's a tight spot to make the challenge and it's a fair card, but a bang-bang play. I haven't seen it since. I'm no Gunners fan either. Just a passing observation.

Any matches this week that anyone is looking forward too?

I'm actually intrigued by Southampton and Sunderland.

Well, looks like you can scratch Willian from my list. Wouldn't blame the player for going there given the opportunity. It is kinda flattering though to see that Chelsea feel the need to buy a player just to keep him away from us, and that Mourinho feels the need to be a dick to our manager rather than just ignoring him. I have no idea what they plan to do with Willian. Even if they are shipping Mata to United they have a million other players just like him (or better).

It does suck for Spurs though - they need the creative spark that he could have provided.

Didn't get a chance to post earlier with the site being down and all, but I was glad to see Spurs get another three points today. It has certainly been a better start so far compared to the last couple seasons. Next weekend is the first real test though - the North London Derby.

I'm hugely impressed by the spine of this team - especially the midfield trio of Paulinho, Capoue and Dembele. They are big and physical they move opponents to win the ball and shrug off attempts by opponents to take it away. Capoue has been an absolute steal so far - a tackling and ball-winning machine. Then late in the game, AVB can invert the midfield triangle, taking off an attack-minded player and inserting Sandro in a double pivot... it's almost unfair. I expected Swansea to have more meaningful possession than they did, but the Spurs midfield absolutely bossed them. I think Swansea did end up with more possession and more completed passes in the end, but the majority of their time on the ball was in their own end of the pitch. When they did go forward, they were not able to play the short passing, ball-on-the-ground style that they prefer. They had to hoof it over the top, because that was their only way to get past Spurs' midfielders.

Also something to keep an eye out for... Once the new SportsBook is installed here on BP 2.0, we're going to have more Premier League, Champions League and other soccer vBets going on. Not just occasional bets... action every week is the goal. Should be fun.

Adem Ljajic has signed for Roma and has taken the no. 8 shirt that belonged to Erik Lamela. This frees up Lamela to move to Tottenham provided Jose Mourinho doesn't kidnap him at the airport. That will free up Gareth Bale to move to Madrid and buy a man purse just like Ronaldo's to complete his dildo costume.
