I was happy before kickoff when I saw on twitter that Adebayor and Saha would be on the pitch together. I've been wanting to see that kind of lineup because...

1.) It makes Adebayor more useful. He has struggled to find the net, but he has done well throughout the season to collect the ball and pick out passes. That seems to be on display today.

2.) With the injuries they have sustained to attacking midfield players, it's a way to get the best remaining eleven on the pitch and continue to play flowing, attacking football as Spurs are wont to do.

Finally got a chance to see some video highlights from Spurs-Newcastle. Great performance against an in-form opponent.

Adebayor... four assists and a goal. :bow:

Saha... the finish on that first goal of his is something that no striker on the team before his arrival was capable of. I was lukewarm about his transfer, and I'm not counting on two goals a game obviously, but if he can bring a little more of that kind of finishing to the team down the stretch he'll be a useful player. He also did well to support the attack with some quality distribution.

I don't know how much longer van der Vaart is expected to be out, but I'd like to see them continue to put Saha and Adebayor together at the top at the very least until he comes back or they go cold. Even if he's due back soon, I'd hope they continue to tinker with it even though it's hard to justify keeping VDV off the pitch.

Now, check out the race for the #4 spot in the table... two teams level on points and two more within four points of that coveted spot. If those teams stay bunched it will make for a tremendous finish to the season. I'm glad that for now at least Spurs are well clear of that group.

For those of you who are rooting for any of Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool to be left out of the Champions League, how hard are you rooting for Newcastle from here on out? :lol:

Saha is a beast when healthy. If he gets quality service, he is a clinical finisher. Problem is he is always getting hurt.

Chelsea is doing all they can to make me cry.

The backline is shit and Torres refuses to shoot. Everydamnbody else is carrying an injury.

I hope Didier gets to start the next 3-4 matches to see if he can create something...anything.. up top that looks like a credible threat to score.

The only thing the board cares about is lining their pockets. They'll stick with him as long as they're able to sell-out games despite having the highest ticket prices in the world and a mediocre product. I'd say he probably should've gone at the end of last season, but I have complete faith that they'd skimp on the replacement and fuck it up.

I wouldn't be surprised if he resigned and took the France job after the Euros. The FFF and Blanc aren't friends anymore and then Wenger can spend as much time watching 16-year old French boys as he wants.

I absolutely agree with this entire post. Horrible product on field last season, hanging on to Arshavin until he has/had no value left, not addressing the defensive needs of the team until this offseason (even Mertesacker couldn't save that sinking ship). Arsenal just seems to be a mess at the moment. Then again, Chelsea looks to have just as big a mess on their hands, but Chelsea has a great defense... Getting older, but still great.

I'd say better days are ahead for sure for Arsenal. It always seems that EPL turns into a two horse race to keep it interesting, meanwhile, positions 2-6 are focusing on the next season and keeping a top 5 finish. Arsenal really needs to go after a CB, a LB (they are really missing Clichy right now), and a CDM.

Part ways with Arshavin regardless of how much value he does or doesn't have.

Not EPL related, but football related.

If I would have watched the Juve-Catania game live, I would have lost it. I can't fucking stand when they have american commentators for a Serie A game. They just sound so out of place.

I really enjoy the Italian commentators. They piece in tidbits that you may not necessarily know. With the american commentators, you hear the same shit regurgitated and really crappy, overdone pronunciations of the player's names.

Phil Shoen on GolTV is the only American commentator I can tolerate for club games. Christian Miles, Christopher Sullivan, and the B team on Gol are terrible.

Ugh, frustrating from Spurs.

0-0 draw to Stevenage. At least it's not as bad as Chelsea - Spurs had to go on the road for this match and they'll be at home for the replay.

To me it all came down to the team that was selected and the formation that was used. With the way things have unfolded, Spurs are in a good position to get to Wembley and maybe even win some silverware. It baffles me then that Harry thought that this was the right time to experiment with the formation.

They decided to go with a 5-3-2 formation, with two wing backs going forward. With Bale nominally slotted in the midfield though and roaming wherever he pleased, it ended up more like a 5-2-1-2. The result of that was that when they possessed the ball they often struggled to get past midfield. Not only did they lack numbers in that part of the pitch, but they also left just about all of the attacking creativity the team has at home or on the bench. The lack of midfielders was also a problem on defense - there were huge spaces for Stevenage to wind up for long shots, and a couple of them were fine strikes that came too close for comfort.

Saha had a decent match all things considered - he had a goal that was disallowed when it deflected off an offside Scott Parker in the mouth of the open goal.

Defoe was invisible for most of the match. That wasn't all his fault though - he's the kind of player that has to rely on the creativity and skill of others to get chances, and the aforementioned midfield problems didn't allow for many.

Parker was miscast. He's tremendous in as a holding midfielder, but today he was asked to be a distributor. He's no Luka Modric.

Livermore was not good. I have no idea why Kranjcar spent the first hour on the bench - he's in-form lately would have brought some attacking creativity to the side.

Hopefully there's a more inspired effort from the players and manager in the replay.

Well I believe Wenger will be here next year. As an Arsenal fan, it's really tough.....but I believe we need a new direction. It's scary to think where this team would be without Van Persie this year. The good news is that they will have 55 million to spend this summer. It will be interesting how the money is spent.

If Arturo Vidal (Juve) slide tackles at the back of Ibra's ankle's one more time, I'm going to go over to Italy, and give him swift kick to the teeth. Hopefully he has at least a 2 game ban for that malarkey.
