I was just in the middle of writing up something about how poor Spurs had been when Defoe finally got the breakthrough.
I don't think he had been bad, but the way Villa were playing really didn't suit his style. He needs a little space and to receive the ball facing the goal. With the injury, substitution and change in tactics for Villa opened things up enough for him to get in the game.
I was more disappointed in Adebayor - he's the one who needs to be the dangerous player in tight spaces and on balls coming in through the air. His first touch hasn't been very good though and he's been caught flat-footed at times.
...and with that, Spurs finally get a bit of what they should have all year long a second goal to (hopefully) put a game away after the first one opens the other team up.
