Needless to say today was a great day for me.

It was awesome seeing the Captain get the game clinching goal.

I'm nervous about going to Newcastle but I think City will take care of business and do the unimaginable by coming back from down 8 points.

This image summed up the action today, It's a new era in Manchester and the Noisy neighbors may be dethroning Man U.

I found this rather entertaining. Deadspin collected all the Tweets about the Manchester Derby on ESPN and compiled them into a post. I was laughing, This is just another example of why I am sometimes embarrassed to be American. I love my country, but not my countrymen.

Mostly agree, but this one was full of win:
Look at @espn acting like it likes Soccer. You would think that Tebow was playing for Manchester United.

As if ESPN could have something better on at 2:30 in the afternoon.

FFS people. Did you need 3 more episodes of Sportscenter that get you up-to-date on absolutely nothing?

America can be truly frightening sometimes. We didn't create it/aren't the best at it therefore it sucks and is for pussies

Between soccer-lover-douche (who talks/types with a British or Spanish accent) and soccer-hater-douche, it's difficult to pay attention to anyone that has an opinion on soccer. I pretty much try to ignore everyone, let them be an embarrassment to themselves, and just try to enjoy the games.

Agree. I follow both football and soccer guys on twitter and they think that somehow you have to like one or the other. They're both enjoyable, as is the NBA, PGA Golf, NASCAR, etc... to me. Who cares what they think?

That Newcastle match has let down written all over it. Gotta figure Man U will win out so that one will likely decide the EPL title.

What's with all the own goals today?

Liverpool expectedly fielding a weakened lineup in anticipation of Saturdays FA Cup final. It'll be interesting to see the lineup that the Blues trot out tomorrow against Newcastle. On the one hand, there is beating the team ahead of you for Champions League spot. On the other hand, there's resting enough players to field a good team to take on the Reds.

 they'd better get used to it. 600 million people watched yesterday's match.

and only 1 million of them were watching ESPN (0.8 rating) in the US. It was the most watched cable tv soccer match, but certainly not some ratings boon considering this type of event is a huge rarity. They typically get about 500,000-600,000 for premier league games.

In comparison, ESPN Sunday night baseball gets 2.5 million viewers on average. That is just an average. Games like Yankees/Red Sox get close to 5 million and that is still just an ordinary regular season game.

Sure, those are Sunday night vs. Monday late afternoon, yet Sunday night baseball is not exactly big for ratings. I doubt ESPN is lining up a ton of premier league games due to this.

BTW...those ratings for the Man u/Man City match are about the same ESPN gets for PTI. Most premier league games don't even beat Around the Horn for ratings, and that show sucks.
