Premier League (Official Thread)

Did anyone see the replay of Drogba getting knocked out by the Norwich keeper? It looked nasty to me. The sound of the punch to the face or head was sickening.

Yes, it looked horrible. He was out cold before he even hit the floor. I think he was released from hospital last night and he'll be ok.

In other news, two London teams have received/are receiving hammerings by Manc teams. While Redknapp is going to point to City's chequebook as his convenient excuse, the uncomfortable fact for him is that his team is weak at the back and up front and he is tactically clueless in the big games. Today he deployed a central midfield of Modric and Kranjcar against City, and of course they were overrun.

Meanwhile, Man Utd are beating Arsenal in a glorified training session (3-1 at the moment). Arsenal's squad is dangerously thin and is being ruthlessly exposed here. That young fullback Jenkinson looks like a deer in headlights; Young is having the time of his life. Oh: as I write that, van Persie and Arshavin have both missed sitters. Doesn't matter; you get the feeling that if Arsenal scored again, the Mancs would just go up the other end and score again themselves.

Oh man, in slow motion it's very frightening. I could have been much worse for his head or neck had he fallen any differently. He bounced off the turf when he couldn't brace his fall because he was absolutely knocked out. Very lucky for him and the Blues it wasn't any worse.

Looks like I picked a great time to start supporting Spurs.

My wife wanted to kick my ass this morning. We were trying to sleep in, and I had forgotten that I had set my phone for match alerts, including every goal scored. :paranoid:

It'll get better. Once Emmanual Adebayor starts playing, goals will come.

Ashley Young's finish was top notch. Beautiful finesse.

I wasn't expecting a strong start. After the opener vs. Everton was postponed, that left matches against Man U., Man City & Liverpool as three of the first four.

Exactly. Plus these last 3 days are going to be pure frenzy mode for Man U, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Liverpool. (Transfer window, that is)

Maybe it's poor form to crow about a team I just adopted, but with the way the Buckeyes and Crew went this weekend I have to be happy about something. I was hopeful for a good result for Spurs against Liverpool, but 4-0 is outstanding. Great goal by Modric to get the scoring started to. Glad they hung on to him. Playing with nine men for the last half hour certainly didn't help the Reds, but Tottenham looked to be in control regardless, which was encouraging.

Looks like things are getting on-track after a brutal early schedule and getting things settled after the close of the transfer window. The table has a clear top two, but it looks like it could be an interesting chase for the other two Champions League spots.

Manchester United had everything go right for them today en route to a 3-1 win over Chelsea...a couple of offsides missed and a deflection. Chelsea were outclassed in the middle of the field.

And I know a sticking point is going to be the sitter that he missed, but Torres looked lively and active, scoring a peach of a goal himself.

The Manchester express continues.

ManU-Chelsea is on FOX right now, tape dealyed of course. Apparently this is the premiere of "game of the week" or whatever.

I'm not much of a fan for FOX (and FSC's) predilection for tape delayed soccer, but it's better than watching the Bungles.

Just saw the sitter. YIKES.

I honestly felt bad for him after that...he had done so well to that point as well. I wonder if he is going to slink back into his rut or continue to play the way he has in the last 2 matches.

If I were Andre Villas Boas I would start him the next match so he can put the miss behind him.

I was happy to see Torres miss that sitter, as he is my least favorite player in the history of the prem. I do have to admit that was an exquisite goal 30 seconds into the 2nd. United are facing a mounting injury list. Gonna have to get the medical staff some extra help.
