Premier League (Official Thread)

Man, Shay Given hasn't moved yet (even on a loan). He was mad in August about being behind Hart. It's now January.

Would've thought SWP would move, but this was before Johnson was out for three months.

13-2 odds in Las Vegas for Chelsea to win the league. They need to get 4 off of United to have a shot. Lampard and Torres need to find their form.

BBC says David Luiz to Chelsea is back on. I've also read that Liverpool had a bid rejected for Micah Richards and Newcastle have put it in a bid for Nicklas Bendtner.

And this is the last time I'm ever going to class on deadline day. WTF.

Crazy day. Tottenham is supposedly going hard after Guiseppe Rossi.

The Bradley to Aston Villa loan is finalized. Villa is trying to get rid of Ireland, early reports were that he failed his medical, but apparently that was false.

No work is getting done today, as I've got the soccernet and Sky sports transfer feeds open, and I'm struggling to keep up with everything. :tongue2:

Ireland to Newcastle, on loan, is a done deal. That should help with the midfield log jam at Villa Park. As of now, Young will not be leaving Villa. He plays on the wings, and Bradley plays in the center, so those two will definitely be able to coexist.

Lots of $$$ being spent today. I like Andy Carroll as a goal scorer and all, but that seemed like a desperation buy to make up for the loss of Torres. And speaking of desperation buys? Chelsea breaking the bank for Fernando.

Aston Villa's purchase of Darren Bent for 24 million pounds looking like the deal of the transfer window compared to what has been going on today.

Wonder if Sir Alex was able to use his "Jedi Mind Tricks" to get Liverpool to raise their ?4million bid for Charlie Adam. Ferguson said he's worth at least ?10million and Blackpool shouldn't move him for anything under that.

Jedi Mind Trick (knowing Liverpool was bidding)

I don't think that Fernando is a bad buy at that much...form is temporary and class is permanent. El Nino will regain his form. Now, whether the buy was necessary with Drogba, Anelka (who might be gone in a matter of hours), Kalou, and the up and coming Sturridge.

There's murmurs that this Torres move was to get ahead of the curve of Drogbas eventual move back to Marseilles.

The Mad Russian pulls a "Juve" a Stamford Bridge, locks some refs in some closets and they'll make up the 10 pts in no time

I guess this is good (maybe not). I hope the network doesn't have commentators calling games off of screens in Connecticut like Euro 2008 (and previous years).

NEW YORK -- ESPN has acquired U.S. broadcast rights to soccer's European Championship in 2012 and 2016 and will televise every game of both tournaments.

The Union of European Football Associations planned to make the announcement Tuesday.

"Euro is a perfect counterbalance to World Cup, so strategically it makes sense for us," Scott Guglielmino, ESPN's senior vice president for programming, said during a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "The passion involved in national team play at the highest level is something that's incredibly powerful, unlike anything else."

ESPN purchased U.S. broadcast and Internet rights in all languages. The network televised the 2008 Euros and has U.S. English-language rights to its sixth consecutive World Cup in 2014.

Plans include broadcasting Euro matches on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3.com, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Radio and ESPN Mobile.

Who knows. I have flashbacks of that lightning storm knocking out the broadcast in 2008 and the commentators just sitting there in Connecticut for 15 minutes of the first half.

I imagine they'd send broadcasters to Europe this time around, especially since ESPN acquired Setanta and could just use their crew (which is already based in Europe).

The Manchester Derby was this morning at 7:30. I don't have FSC and wasn't able to watch. I've heard reports of a miraculous Rooney overhead strike to win it late. Unfortunately, EPL footage is kept under tighter locks than UFO footage and it may be a few hours to a day or two before I get to see it. Either way, sounds like it was a great game. If anyone has any leads please let me know!

It was an absolutely incredible strike by Wayne Rooney, who was in dreadful form. Everytime you think united are in trouble, something like this just happens, it's amazing.

101greatgoals.com for the video.
