I was wondering if anyone was going to change their prediction list with the offer to Braxton Berrios:huh:

He is an interesting wildcard for sure. I would think he wouldn't come up here his senior year to earn this offer with all the offers he has in hand if he wasn't really interested in us. And our offer has to be an OFFER I would think. Not sure if we get him this late though, the other schools have been in the picture much longer. I hope to see him in this class though.

With all of the excitement about berrios, how are we forgetting about a kid that now has Osu as his leader and was talked about heavily only a few days ago, Noah brown. Both berrios and brown would more than likely be coming in as a WR, and with tight numbers we probably can't get both. Brown, IMO, is the much better recruit between the 2, and even with the berrios offer, I don't see the staff letting up on brown. Size and speed is a great combination to have in our offense

Working off the prediction of 23 and with Knox and Hooker in I'm going with something similar to MD's current list:

Samuel
Lattimore
Smith
McMillian
Holley
Brown
Prince

I think Samuel, Lattimore, Smith and McMillian are as close to in as could be in July.

I think OSU leads or is at least at the top with others for Prince, Holley and Brown.

My guess is they think at least 1-2 of the OL can come in and provide depth right away. That's why I don't have Mavety on the list. But maybe if he pulls the trigger for OSU in August they pass on Prince? I just don't see how you squeeze in both.

The biggest problem for me is leaving Gesicki off the list. Maybe they see him as an X and thus he could beat Brown to the punch?

Also, have to wonder why they offered Berrios at this stage if they feel good about Brown and Samuel. Unless they plan to take three more playmakers at WR/Hybrid because they see Campbell as purely a RB at the next level after seeing him on the camp circuit. Or is it first two of Berrios, Brown, Gesicki and Samuel? I just don't see how it's not Samuel and one other playmaker...and for now I'm going with Brown.

And to think I was originally hoping they were going to fight for a guy like Solomon Thomas until the end. No way they have room for two more DL.

Again, this is all off the notion that 23 is the absolute max...if that changes, my list changes.

Pretty much looks like our text convo lol. I obviously agree 100%.

So with the hooker pickup, does that make the smith signing less needed? Him and lattimore are a package deal, but if they weren't would we still pursue him? In other words, were we looking for two safeties (if that's what hooker will be) in this class?

I would definitely still pursue him & I believe the staff will. They're not going to offer a Glenville player unless they plan on taking his commitment. I also think Hooker will start at Safety, but may have the opportunity to work out at corner & WR.

Just saw in the Hooker thread that Wad thinks we could see him @ WR as well, meaning we would still have a need @ safety. I think Smith brings a physical presence to a defense that you don't pass on unless of course u land all the others like Lattimore, Mavety, Prince, Samuel, McMillan and Holley. And I don't think u can expect to land all of those so I think he's safely in for now. And we still have that unexpected name, that end of the recruiting process surprise gem commitment that Urban likes to reel in late Jan. too.

I think guys whom Urban has banked spots for til NSD are:

Lattimore
Smith
McMillian
Prince

The Glenville duo should mean that we are done recruiting DBs the rest of the way. We are not going after another MLB until McMillian signs with someone else. I think Prince has a spot saved, and Mavety or Bookser better make up their mind soon.

I think they take two between Thompson, Brown, Samuel and Berrios. With Heuerman/Vannett in the program, I don't think TE is a priority this year, especially since we missed on a few preferred options in the beginning.

Coach Meyer being the lead recruiter for Curtis Samuel tells me all I need to know......Samuel will have a spot if he wants in.

I agree here & said the same to wad in a text. I think Baugh gets redshirted, beefed up & you have your TE/H of the future. They could also be looking at Gesicki at X and he'd be included in that group of Thompson, Brown, Samuel & Berrios.

I think we end with:
Lattimore
Smith
Samuel
McMillan
Brown
Mavety(though I'm fine with being wrong and getting prince or bookser)

Berrios is too late, and I think brown is preferred by the staff. Thompson stays south. And gesicki just isn't a need with the us already 4 deep at TE/h back

Agreed on Samuel. He wasn't included b/c he'll mostly like pull the trigger well in advance of NSD, unlike the other four. But he'll be the dynamic game-changer in this class.

I like Gesicki, and I think he's a candidate for the TE/H role, but I don't think he'd be on the pecking order for X. Brown and Thompson are the ideal guys at X and both have reciprocated a ton of interest.
