too many people equate work safe to R rated. there is no nudity anywhere except the RR. everything i see everywhere else is pg13 tops.

i understand people use the site at work, but it is at your own risk. if your work place is so stuck up and your computing experience isn't secure and pg13 is taboo, that really is your problem.

i have my work computer facing away from the door and i know for a fact that me being on BP wouldn't cause any stir. i still have never checked out BP at work. no fuckin time for it really. when i do use the net at lunch i usually check out plastic and extrusion sites and message boards.

i can totally understand limiting all pg-13 type stuff to the sigs and not the avatars though to accomodate those of us with work issues. then give them the option of turning off sigs like they always have. when they complain without helping out themselves, then the mob dings them. that is how this all works. when they complain about dings, they get the shit dinged out of them. the strong will survive and continue to be here, the weak will get frustrated and leave. sounds good to me.

i already miss the asian boobs you bastards.

as for traffic, who cares about traffic really. i care about the conversation. the convo has been a little weak lately though i agree. just not many interesting topics out there buckeyewise. recruiting being at a standstill isn't helping.

i missed tibor getting banned, anyone out there able to point me to a thread other than the search function.

tibor could be an ass but he was enjoyable i thought. i don't mind seeing us portrayed as negative as possible. it is as valid of view as the no bashing rule.

i also think there are way too many sticky threads in the recruiting forum. good threads will stick to the top on their own. no need to subsidize some of the threads.

What may be PG-13 to you may not be to my boss.
I used to come here every day at lunch, but after a couple of close calls with half naked chicks on my screen I had to stop.
I dont want to have to turn off sigs, because some peoples are creative

Ditto, over the summer I even had a couple collegues walk by my cube and be like "Whoa I hope Pete (boss) doesn't see that for your sake". The half nudity stuff I really think needs cut back. I love it just as much as every other guy, but you have to draw the line somewhere

For about 6 months, I have been really busy working/coaching/being a father, etc., and it has diminished my time posting here. My limited time here has been spent mainly reading threads/posts then off to a class/edit some material I'm writing/coaching.

As far as the skinnage shown in sigs, well I too have noticed an increase in that the past month or so. Since I have students who come by my office, I have decided to turn sigs off. That does not mean I think we need a policy on this, in fact I am against such a policy. If one works in an environment where some sigs may be considered questionable, then simply turn them off. That is the easy and obvious solution, instead of drawing an arbitrary line somewhere that impacts the whole community.

I think it has to do with a couple things.

1. First alot of people seem to get busy this time of year, just so they get everything done so they have the weekend to sit around watch football and do nothing.

2. I know this might sound stupid but there are a lot of things on tv right now with all new shows and no reruns, also the baseball playoffs and people are just sitting in front of the tv instead of the computer.

3. Lack of recruiting updates, I think alot of people that don't post a whole lot just come to check out the recruiting updates and see if there is anybig news, and if there is they will make a few posts, but when they continue to check back and all they don't see anything they want to see they log off and go find something else to do.

4. I also don't agree with the whole newbie thing where they have to wait b4 they can post. I was invited over here by one of the posters on this site and once I signed up I made my first post, something I had already posted on bn and got about 2 replies and came over here and got a great post award on my first post.

I still make it a point to check on buckeyeplanet everyday, sometimes I have time to post and sometimes I don't, but I think traffic will pick up in a couple weeks when the schedule picks up.

Like I said earlier, I dont want to turn them off becuase I only access BP from work probably 10% of the time I am on it.
Plus I enjoy the quotes and other pictures some people have in them.

Then don't mention half-naked chicks on your computer being an issue.

I've had sigs turned off for over a year, another benefit is that the pages load quicker without them.

I don't miss them at all. Besides after you read or see them once, doesn't the novelty wear off a bit or no?

As far as limiting how much a newbie can post I am against that as well.

That does nothing but discourage membership. A lot of new posters have been lurkers for awhile anyways.

Just don't think we need to be so quick to jump on some of them though.

I didn't want to turn them off, either. I only visit here "under watchful eyes" about 10% of the time as well... so when I know that's what I'm going to be doing, the first thing I do is turn off Sigs. Then, when I can view freely I turn them back on. Unless Clarity or the other powers that be decide to change it (which they should not do) we'll just have to deal with it.

The first thing they told me at work was to move your desk so the computer doesn't face the door......thats just not smart :p

Another solution is to get FireFox and the AdBlocker. You can block out any picture you want, and it's local to that machine.
