Ole Miss QB recruit kicked off team for selling steroids

JACKSON, Miss. -- A quarterback who was to sign with Mississippi on Feb. 6 has been kicked off the team because of an arrest for selling steroids.
Jared Foster, of Madison, who played last season for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, was enrolled in classes at Ole Miss and was informally working out with the team. He was scheduled to formally join the team on National Signing Day and would have been able to practice this spring.

The Clarion-Ledger of Jackson reported Foster's arrest Monday on its Web site. The school announced that Foster was off the team in a one-sentence release but did not say why.

"It's a shame," Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt told the Clarion-Ledger. "But we're trying to build a football program and that's stuff we can't tolerate."

ALLEGED HUB ASSAULT
Ex-players to be tried together
Defense anticipated move by county prosecutors
By Pete Bosak- [email protected]

BELLEFONTE ? The Centre County District Attorney's Office has filed notice it will try former Penn State football players Chris Baker and Navorro Bowman together rather that prosecute two trials.

The ex-players' attorneys, Karen Muir and Stacy Parks Miller, said Monday they anticipated the move and are ready to defend their clients against accusations that they took part in the beating and stomping of a Philadelphia man in October.

On looking into this thread, I suddenly remembered back to when jimotis4heisman started it. At that time, he started it because ESPiN and the other "sports journalists" were painting Ohio State with a tar brush as the center of all evil in sports.

JO4H wanted to start a thread just so we could keep track of how we did versus other programs.

Seems to me like a time that we all might just go back and rep him. We now have a thread with nearly 1100 posts. How many of these have focused on someone at Ohio State? Almost none.

Greenies for you buddy!

Just a li'l nitpick....this thread isn't a good indicator of what kind of angels wear scarlet and gray.....because if/when OSU players get in trouble, it shows up in the main forum, not here. Searching this thread for "Henton" for example turns up just one post completely unrelated to his off-field issue.

The same is partially true for UM since there is a separate UM news thread and certain players have their own thread too. Manningham for example is missing from this thread.

Hey now, stop clogging this thread up with unnecessary things like logic and facts, man just when I was starting to like you.

Good point, but it makes we tOSU fans feel vindicated about how we felt when we were being beaten down by eSpin and the media. It's funny how it seems that any transgression by tOSU gets a lot more air time than some of the things mentioned in here that are much more serious and legit.

To see the sheer number of State Penn football players listed is staggering, yet JoePa is still forgiven as being the kindly old grandfather type.

Perhaps you misunderstand my point, vulvarine-breath.

At the time this thread began, there was article after article making large about Ohio State being out of control. Usually, they tied together the last two years of Cooper's term, when discipline did shift downward, and the first year of Tressel's term and tried to make it seem like eight players had been busted in a short-term. IIRC, half of those arrests were DUI-related stuff.

Even during a bowl game, we had a non-stop assault on our coaches and players by the ESPiN boys.

Meanwhile, all manner of crap was going on elsewhere and receiving little comparative coverage, including players shooting other folks, etc. Problems that cast a negative light on media darling coaches (e.g., Ferentz) were ignored. There were no similar outcries to investigate issues at USC (Bush, the subsidized rent issue, etc), even after Ohio State had been cleared by two NCAA investigations. Only when Andy Geiger resigned did the crap stop.

This thread did a lot to show Buckeye fans that they could hold their heads up high and that media bullcrap was just that. OK, Henton gets caught in a sting operation. In the end, it turns out that the police really have no evidence except the sting cop's word, despite the fact that they recorded the conversation. To get the matter finalized, he pleaded out to a lesser offense.

So, how does the arrest record of Ohio State athletes compare to Penn State? Or Tennessee? Or Iowa? Or, well, you pick any major program?

Ohio State compares favorably to just about any program in America. And because a thread like this one exists, Buckeye fans have the information they need to refute the type of incoherent, inaccurate smears Ohio State experienced during that disgusting attack.

This thread is not a comprehensive archive of all football players or major sports athletes in college who have been arrested or charged with a crime. So, the fact that threads exist elsewhere is not really indicative that Ohio State has something to hide. Quite the contrary. Read through this thread. We don't have guys firing guns in nightclubs, beating up people in bars, hustling drug dealers, killing others, etc.

I would argue that this thread is indeed representative of the fact that Ohio State runs an extremely clean program. As an alumni and former professor, I am very proud of them.

I guess I thought this was the 'official' thread for off-field tomfoolery... but never felt like it was a problem if things were missed.

Koufos with the block (albeit vs a PG fadeaway J), misses the fast break chance. Nearly throws ball away.

Gets pass to low block but cannot maintain possession.

PSU drains another 3, 19-12... 9-0 run.

Arena already being scoured for suitable rails.

I hardly think an early lead for Penn State merits running commentary in Police/Legal Blotter :tongue2:

Vols to discipline guard Parker following disorderly conduct charge

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee guard Anthony Parker faces disciplinary action following his weekend arrest on a charge of disorderly conduct.

Coach Phillip Fulmer said in a statement Wednesday that Parker will be subjected to morning runs, curfew, community service, police ride-alongs and other punishments.

"I have watched Anthony Parker mature and grow as a young man, student and leader on our team over the years, and I am proud of his growth," Fulmer said. "However in this incident, I do not believe he respected the officer as he should have and unintentionally created a situation that could have been avoided."

Parker was charged with disorderly conduct Saturday morning after an off-duty Knoxville police officer responded to a crowd in an apartment parking lot.
