Police/Legal Blotter (stop breaking the law, asshole!)

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Two Michigan football players were arraigned Wednesday on assault charges after police say they attacked a fellow student in a residence hall on St. Patrick's Day.
Carson Butler, 19, of Detroit, and Christian Richards III, 19, of Pacoima, Calif., are charged with one count each of aggravated assault, and assault and battery, said campus police spokeswoman Diane Brown.

Things could really be getting interesting for Richards, as the SI article goes on to say:

In addition to the charges stemming from Saturday's incident, Richards has another case pending. He was charged with illegal entry on campus last year, The Ann Arbor News reported.

Richards failed to appear for his arraignment on that charge, and a bench warrant had been issued for his arrest.

A little mj for Eugene Germany. This on the heels of stealing a cell phone last year and being chased down from behind by the cops.

Michigan football player cited for marijuana possession

University of Michigan defensive end Eugene Germany was ticketed for marijuana possession last month, according to 15th District Court records. Germany admitted responsibility and paid a $50 fine on Feb. 20 at the court in Ann Arbor.

Last week, Michigan coach Lloyd Carr said Germany would be held out of spring practices, which began Saturday. Carr declined to give a reason for his decision.

A backup, the 6-foot-2-inch, 279-pound Germany saw action in eight games and had three tackles last season.

Looks like there's at least 1 female student in Lincoln the new QB won't be scoring with.

Strickland won't face suspension
Richt says freshman offensive lineman will be disciplined 'in-house'

By CHIP TOWERS
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 03/27/07 Athens ? Georgia football coach Mark Richt said Monday he will handle discipline of offensive lineman Tanner Strickland "in-house," meaning the freshman will not face suspension for his arrest on misdemeanor charges of possessing a fake ID.
"We'll wear him out pretty good," Richt said following Monday's practice. "To tell his daddy about it wasn't real fun either."
Strickland, a 17-year-old freshman from Nashville, Ga., who enrolled early in January, turned himself in to Athens-Clarke County sheriff's deputies Monday. He was one of 13 UGA students who had warrants issued Friday as a result of information brought to the attention of UGA police by a U.S. postal inspector. Two were charged with intent to distribute fraudulent IDs.

Selwyn Lymon Stabbed - Was In Critical Condition

This is (I think) the best thread for this - though this post is somewhat atypical of the thread.

Normally this is full of stories about college athletes who overstep the bounds of the law, civil decorum, NCAA rules or common sense.

This story is not quite like any of those.

True, there was a fight in which Lymon was attacked, at a night club, in the wee hours of this morning. But I think we would all agree that there is getting the worst of a fight and getting much more than you bargained for.

Purdue wide receiver Selwyn Lymon stabbed in chest; in critical condition

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Purdue wide receiver Selwyn Lymon was stabbed in the chest, saying he was attacked at a nightclub near the campus.
The 20-year-old player was listed in fair condition Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette after being in critical condition earlier in the day, Purdue spokesman Tom Schott said.
Lymon arrived at the hospital about 2:45 a.m. ET with a stab wound to the upper chest and told medical workers he was attacked close to the campus, said John Walker, deputy chief of West Lafayette Police Department.
Police officers were called to the parking lot of Nick's Nightclub about 2:15 a.m. ET to a report of a fight in progress. Walker said officers found about 30 people in the lot, but they dispersed without incident. Police had several witnesses to interview, Walker said.
Purdue coach Joe Tiller was awaiting more information from the police before commenting, Schott said.
Lymon, of Fort Wayne, played in 13 games, including 12 starts, last season as a sophomore. He ranked fourth on team with 33 receptions for 580 yards and three touchdowns and led Purdue with a 17.6-yard per catch average.
Oddly enough this story has made it's way to India.

Bizarre story about a Spartan from a few years ago. A 28-year old former state heavyweight wrestling champ and DL in college allegedly threw a 66-year old guy off a third story balcony.

(PSU) Police: Group assaults partygoers

State College police are investigating an early Sunday burglary and assault at a downtown apartment party, and the party's hosts are alleging that Penn State football players were involved.

Police have not filed charges or named any suspects, though a press release from police indicated that all the actors had been identified.

Two residents of the apartment and four other sources present at the party, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said they identified to the police that football players were part of a group that entered a party at a third-floor Meridian II apartment, 646 E. College Ave.

Justin King was the only one mentioned in the article, but it'll come out sooner or later.
