Florida's Jenkins pleads to marijuana charge
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida cornerback Janoris Jenkins has accepted a plea deal on a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.
The State Attorney's Office agreed to withhold adjudication and ordered Jenkins to pay $316 in various court costs and fines Friday.
Jenkins, considered one of the top cornerbacks in the Southeastern Conference, was arrested in a Gainesville nightclub in January. Gainesville Police officers said they spotted Jenkins in a public bathroom rolling a marijuana cigarette. Jenkins was charged with possession of marijuana less than 20 grams. He was released after signing a notice to appear in court.
It was the football program's first arrest under new coach Will Muschamp, who said he would handle the matter internally.

Coach Brian Kelly said the suspension will not be lifted until Floyd changes his behavior and both the legal and university discipline procedures run their course.
It was Floyd's third run-in with the law over alcohol since 2009.
"I've spoken to Michael Floyd and his mother and, in light of what took place this past weekend, I let him know he has been suspended indefinitely from football team-related activities," Kelly said. "Football needs to take a backseat at the moment while Michael gets his life in order. ... What's most important right now is Michael focusing on maturing and developing more as a person while working to improve his decision-making processes."
Floyd, who is considered Notre Dame's best offensive player, apologized and said he accepted the punishment.

Floyd was driving a white Cadillac at 3:18 a.m. Sunday when he ran a stop sign about a block from the school's main entrance, according to a probable cause affidavit from St. Joseph County deputy prosecutor Chris Daniels filed Monday.
Floyd failed three sobriety tests that consisted of a standing on one leg, walking and turning around, and a finger count, Daniels said. The breathalyzer test showed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19, well above Indiana's legal limit for driving of 0.08 percent.

Virginia Tech football player, girlfriend charged with child abuse
A Virginia Tech football player was arrested Wednesday and charged in connection with injuries to his infant child.
Xavier Boyce and his girlfriend Olivia Hutchins, both 20 and of Blacksburg, were arrested on charges related to cruelty and injuries to the girl, Blacksburg police said today.
Police believe the child was injured Jan. 31 at the couple's home in the 1200 block of University City Boulevard, police said. They did not say in what way the child was hurt.
Boyce and Hutchins were released on $5,000 unsecured bonds.
Boyce is a redshirt sophomore split end for the Hokies football team.
Under Tech athletic department policy, any athlete charged with a felony is automatically suspended from all athletic-related activities, meaning Boyce won't be able to participate in the Hokies' spring practice period that runs from March 30 to Apr. 23.
