If I practiced criminal law, which I don't...

Or was a member of the Florida Bar, which I'm not...

I would be filing pleadings asserting the Strong Pimp Hand Defense

Breaking News: LaMichael James Arrested

February 17, 2010
By KEZI 9 News Staff

Springfield, Ore. -- Another Oregon Duck football player gets into trouble. University of Oregon Running Back LaMichael James has been arrested for domestic violence by Springfield Police. He was booked at the Lane County Jail just before three o'clock Wednesday morning.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office website lists James' charges as strangulation, assault-4 and menacing. James had a breakout freshman season as a duck running back, filling in for the suspended LaGarrette Blount. James took home the PAC-10 Offensive Freshman of the Year award. The red shirt freshman finished second in rushing behind Stanford's Toby Gerhart with just under 1500 yards.

So what the count now?

Blount was assault (but at least it was a grown man), the QB is a thief and the speed back beats on women.

Anyone ever remember an entire starting offensive backfield getting arrested before? Off the top of my head this is a first but I don't want to short change any SEC schools or Miami without doing my research.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest Colorado might have done that in the late Neuheisel years.

And Tom O'Brien had some excellent citizens in his backfield at Nebraska.

Widen your gaze sir - the Big12 has the answer you seek (I think).

I don't think it was the entire offensive backfield per se, but QB Charles Thompson and Oklahoma sure hit rock bottom with gang rape, shootings, and cocaine distribution charges all in 1989 and involving, well, pretty much everybody.

Oklahoma has paid the price for the anything-goes - 02.27.89 - SI Vault

Oregon making a serious push for the Fulmer Cup.

Its going to take lines of coke off dead hookers in the dorms or a serious case of Happy Valley PD axe grinding for someone to take it away from them at this point.

I think the entire starting backfield arrested thing is akin to a unanimous #1 ranking in all 3 regular polls. Tough to overcome.

Might add Oklahoma to that group when oh Barry Switzer was the head coach.
