Dunlap appeared at a court hearing on Friday in Gainesville. He was placed on probation for a year and had his drivers license suspended for six months. He also must complete 50 hours of community service, participate in a victim's impact panel and pay about $1,000 in fines.

Turns out, his boys made sure he was home safe from the birthday party, but then a female called his drunk ass and told him that he should come on by and visit her, so he got in his car and as far as the stoplight when he snoozed out...

So it was a DUIBC. Driving under the influence of a booty call.

Recruit arrested on alcohol charge

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a 17-year-old South Carolina football recruit has been arrested and charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Victor Hampton played his senior season at Darlington High. He had played at Independence High in Charlotte, N.C., but left the team over the summer.

Hampton signed with the Gamecocks on Wednesday.

In a statement released through his guardian, Darlington attorney Cheveron Scott, Hampton said he used bad judgment and brought alcohol to school Friday. He apologized for letting people down.
Hampton said he realizes he can't make a mistake like this again and asked that people not give up on him.

Florida redshirt freshman Brown accused of battery

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida redshirt freshman defensive tackle Gary Brown is accused of misdemeanor battery in a dispute at a party near Gainesville.

Brown was charged with two counts of misdemeanor battery Sunday morning. Jail records indicated that bond had not yet been set for the 19-year-old, but he was expected to appear before a judge Monday.

According to an arrest report, Brown is accused of striking two women who were trying to kick people out of a party.

One woman told investigators that Brown slapped her in the face, while the other said he slapped her arms, causing scratches. Neither victim required medical attention.

It is unclear if Brown has an attorney.

There have also been players who violated what Meyer calls "our core values" and were tossed for good.
"What are our core values?" Meyer says. "Missing class? No. You miss class, we're going to get you. Stay out late, get in a fight, those are bad things, but we fix those; they're called mistakes. But core value Number 1 at Florida is honesty. Don't you lie to me. People tell fibs, and when I get you? I've had to dismiss a guy. Number 2 is: Treat women with respect. If you touch a female, I don't want to hear she hit you first.

I think Urban Meyer has an attorney on speed dial already.

UF athletes have a friend in attorney Huntley Johnson - Orlando Sentinel
If student athletes at tOSU gets in trouble, what do they do? Do they look in the yellow pages for an ad that looks good, or do they wait until in jail until some court appointed counsel is supplied?

Edit: I mean, I can see smacking on the number of arrests, etc., but c'mon, Urban does not get them a lawyer. And if the one they pick is particularly good at getting misdemeanors reduced or dismissed in a first time diversion program, then it is because EVERYBODY gets that sort of deal in Municipal courts at collge towns, where misdemeanor arrests happen with great frequency in a student body population. I had many fraternity brothers who had run ins over the years at UF, and generally, if it was not egregious, and a first time offense, the charges got reduced in exchange for community service. I remember being in a car full of idiots coming home from a night out and specifically driving by the county road where our fraternity brother was picking up trash in his orange vest, specifically so we could throw our beer cans at him on the way by. :p

So we deserve the comments if we do the crime, but the fact is that many crimes are over-billed, and diversion is, and will be the choice of most prosecutors for a college kid with a first offense misdemeanor.
