Players I am most interested to watch in Spring Game

ShowMeBuck

You know what? Chicken butt.
This is based in part on what I see as potential for greatness and part based on need for it relative to position depth.

1. Berry, TE - Dude just seems like a total sleeper to me with crazy upside and we have virtually no depth at TE.

2. Landers, DT - Undersized they say? Never discount a high motor and burning desire. Lack of depth at position well documented.

3. Smith, Hooker, Ward, Glover-Williams, Lattimore, Webb in the Secondary - Yeah I lumped a whole lot of dudes together because the entire secondary is basically wide open and I can't even figure out who needs to break out the MOST as it seems like they all do.

4. Gibson, WR - For obvious reasons. Let's see how dedicated he is to realizing his full potential. He would be higher on my list but I am less worried about WR depth than the above spots.

If I had to pick one on either side of the ball-

Offense- Weber (RB): The last two feature backs in this offense have put up monstrous seasons. Weber has the ability to do it as well.
Defense- Hubbard (DE): He showed a ton of potential as a pass-rusher in 2015. I'm interested to see if he can build on it. Hard to believe this kid was listed as a safety coming out of HS.

QB: Burrow - love his potential. Eager to see how far he's come since his incredible performance in the shoe in the title game 1.5 years ago.

WR: Gibson/Mack/Hill - a rare chance for freshmen to make a huge impact on an Urban team. Brown, Smith are sure things (if healthy), and Campbell will be a regular as a blocker.

DT: Hill/Landers - Can Hill build on his close to 2015 and become the DL we hoped he could be? Can Landers bring his playmaking ability to a thin unit, despite his size?

LB: Booker/Baker - how sharp will the learning curve be? The dropoff was enormous last fall when the starters left the field

S: Hooker - immense potential but still young in football years. Will he live up to the (fellow player) hype? Will the growing pains be worse with so many new faces, including next to him?

Figured we would get a variety of responses here for both new guys and veterans like Hill because so many starting spots are up for grabs. Heck, Webb has played and he clearly has potential but this is his chance to own his spot flat out. Who is going to step up and own their spot like Lee did a few years ago at a thin LB core? That opportunity is open across the team this year.

With two new tackles, one almost surely being Prince, I really want to see how he handles guys like Lewis and Hubbard.

On the defensive side - I'll take Ward....plenty of WR's are going to get their shots and Ward will be tested, interested to see how he responds.

I do think Berry, Burrow, Landers, Hill, Gibson, etc. are all great choices as well. I'm about to get off my hope train with Collier but maybe I'll be surprised.

Is Nick Conner going to be ready for the spring game? I thought not.

The young linebackers. There are spots open finally, who is going to bust onto the scene. Hopefully McMillan plays like an All American and at least one other guy becomes the next great one. Hilliard, Booker, Baker and Conner have potential. Interested to see who blows up.

I'm looking particularly at both sides of the line first.
OL- Can Prince transition to an elite LT in CFB, and what guys will step up in the interior(Burrell, Knox, Price, Lisle). Also will Jones play strong enough to stay at RT
DL- Just who will step up in the interior. And its nice to have Lewis and Hubbard, but how will the rotation that we've heard about for a while play out, and will backups finally step up

Outside of that, can Parris Campbell get over dropsies and make the transition to WR/Pivot, who between Dunn and Weber will distance themselves as the starter and who steps up and solidifies the 3 of 4 open DB spots

Very good thread, especially with so many spots up for grab. My list:

QB: Joey Burrow for sure and maybe the most interesting on all of the offense. I am really high on Joey and after a year in the program, I cannot wait to see what he brings to the table.
RB: Mike Weber. By all accounts, he will be impressive. At the very least, he will get PT imo but I really want to see him run.
WR: Torrance Gibson because of the enormous potential. But take your pick here, this could go any which way. Mack is going to be fun to see, he could make a huge splash right away. Hill could be big time and could be the biggest wildcard of them all. Will Dixon be healthy? McCall is so explosive that he could also be right in the mix somwhere On top of it all, Victor is so talented that he could make a push as a true frosh.
TE: Jake Hausmann: Kid will play right away imo. Berry has enormous potential and could play into the convo as well, but Jake is the best TE that I have seen OSU bring in since I have followed recruiting. (just realizing Jake might night be here for the spring...if so, then Berry)
OL: Prince. Lot of hype, can't wait to see how he competes for the LT spot.
DE: Cooper is the easy choice for me but Thompson will hopefully be healthy and I always liked his ability. And if Cornell plays DE, he is my #1 here.
DT: Robert Landers. Lots of noise here and we need someone to step up.
LB: Jerome Baker. We lost two really, really good LBs. McMillan is an absolute stud and I don't know what we have beyond that. Booker looks good but we have seen a glimpse there. Hilliard is going to be good but it seems that Baker really has the coaches' eyes. I have always thought that both Conner and Hilliard will be studs no matter what, but Baker carries some intrigue. Also keep in mind that Tuf Borland got in early and that kid is going to be a tackle machine.
CB: Denzel Ward. Coaches are raving about him and it looks like he might pass up Lattimore. Also think Fuller will compete.
S: Eric Glover-Williams: Seemed like a WR or CB, now it seems like he is a pretty certified defensive back. I think he will be a super star, can't wait to see how he plays.
