Players Declaring for NFL

I realize that there are additional reasons that a college football player "declares early for the draft"; however, the main reason is the guaranteed money that a 1st round draft pick gets.

Currently there are over 32 underclassmen who declared early (and that doesn't count the seniors in the draft). There are only 32 picks in the first round. Therefore, my guess is, that there are going to be several really disappointed ex-college football players come 25/26 April 2009. :(

Good or bad move? The only knock is his health. In the two big games of this year, he missed the USC debacle with a foot injury and he was knocked out of the Fiesta Bowl by Texas. With his blend of power, size and breakaway speed, he could be the first back taken and he could end up being taken in the first five picks. If he's part of a rotation, he'll be devastating.

I'm shocked that Mays is coming back. He's the top safety prospect if he comes out and a top-10 pick.

But you can't put a price on one more year with the sun and hot girls. USC definately has that going for them.

Whether Sanchez comes out this year or next year really doesn't matter for him. He'll be the top QB in the draft next year, and might be behind Stafford this year.

You act like he hasn't been getting paid to play football since the moment USC started recruiting him...

You beat me to it, my guess is that Mays decided to forgo playing against the best in the game in the NFL because at this time in his life, he just could not afford to take the pay cut , sorry Thomps, the devil made me do it.

Brian Hartline declared for the Draft today. I'm mentioning it here since his thread has now been moved to the Alumni forum, which is where discussion about his decision and his NFL prospects should occur.

Sorry to see Brian #2 go, but he was making noises like he wanted to leave with the guys he came in with......best of luck to him.

As far as Sean Mays coming back to USC for his senior year, just remember the money he is paid at USC is under the table, so he doesn't have to pay income taxes on it. And, the USC song girls are hot......

OSU will have their chore cut out for them next year at the Shoe!

LSU WR Brandon LaFell is supposed to declare for the Draft, per Joe Schad.

He also said that Sam Bradford is expected to say that he's staying at Oklahoma at his press conference.

So Tebow and Bradford will both be threats for a second Heisman.

I really think Bradford should have come out. He's a first rounder, and he could hurt his stock since he's losing a lot of weapons.

Quarterback Sam Bradford is expected to announce that he will return to Oklahoma next season, a source told ESPN.

Bradford was expected to announce his decision at a 5:30 p.m. ET press conference Wednesday.

Wonder what this means for Sanchez. If Bradford stays and Sanchez leaves, Sanchez could be the #2 qb taken and get drafted in the first round. Next year, regardless of the rookie salary cap or any of that, I can't envision him being any higher than 3rd, behind Bradford and McCoy. This makes for a very interesting decision for Mark.

Sanchez could very well be the #1 qb taken, and he was keeping an eye on Sam's decision. Either way, I doubt Stafford or Sanchez wait very long if both are seated in this year's green room.
