EDIT: New York Giants release beleaguered receiver Plaxico Burress - ESPN

Just because you wear a badge it doesn't give you the right to be harassing football players.
NY Buckeye;1444328; said:Plax is a d-bag but the Bears should be all over him after they just signed Cutler. Hester is not a #1 WR. No matter how good Cutler is he needs someone to throw to. Plax/Hester with Forte in the backfield seems to fit together pretty nicely.
It is believed the union objects to the fact that Burress will lose nearly one-quarter of his $3.5 million salary ($823,529) and that the Giants might be considering withholding the final, $1 million payment of his $4.25 million signing bonus.
On top of that, the Giants have fined Burress an undisclosed amount for his actions. Under CBA rules, they are allowed to fine him one week's pay ($205,882).
That means the final cost for Burress could be as much as $2,029,411. And that doesn't include any future lost wages or bonuses if the Giants cut him after the season.
NEW YORK (AP)?Former New York Giant Plaxico Burress(notes) pleaded guilty Thursday to a weapons charge and agreed to a two-year prison term for accidentally shooting himself at a Manhattan nightclub.
Jake;1519708; said:Two years for accidentally shooting yourself doesn't seem right compared to 30 days for accidentally running over a guy, and killing him, while intoxicated. :ohwell:
