Pittsburgh vs Washington: Second Round

WOW!!!! WHAT A GAME.... If we play like that we're gonna be tough to beat. It took two bad bounces for them to get their goals tonight. The first off the endboard, and then again off Fleury's back to tie it.

You want to know who I thought had a great game tonight besides the obvious guys? Dupuis, Satan, FedEx, and Staal. I really would like to see more of Satan because he seems to be able to hold his own a lot better than Sykora did. He was able to create some shots and kept the offensive zone a couple times. Dupuis was really effective tonight I thought also. The hustle, very active stick (especially offensively), and was physical as always.

I still am in awe thought of Varlimov. The guy's sick! Who knows if he's for real or just this years Hedberg, but with him in net they're gonna be VERY tough for us to beat 3 more times.

No props to Malkin? :(

He played out of his mind tonight.

Ovechkin gets opportunities every time he comes into the offensive zone with his wicked shot. Crosby is a lunatic that has the skillset of an elite playmaking center and the mindset of a grinder.

But, the guy that can take over a game and tell the other team "No" is Evgeni Malkin.

Dupuis should kiss Letgs ass for saving him. That was a stupid penalty to take when Malkin was ahead of him in their own zone.

I love how Ovie tried to take a run at Orpik and took the worst of the hit.

Playoff hockey kicks ass. The Igloo was loud tonight.

Great game by Malkin. Now it's your turn Staal.

Games like this make me wonder how hockey isn't the most popular sport..

Because they don't score every 30 seconds like they do in basketball.

Pens had to have it, and got it. They have to get the next one, too. Without home ice a 3-1 deficit would be very difficult to overcome.

who has taken the opposite pivot of malkin? steckel? that matchup id like if i was the caps. pens fans should enjoy being home and the second change. granted the old saying says the series hasnt started til a road team wins a game...

ive barely caught any of the second round it is sad.

the reason why you have to wonder why hockey isnt the most popular sport is simple, average us person doesnt understand the game/rules on any level. thus little interest.

Haha well I said "the obvious guys"... I was intending Crosby, and Malkin to be in that. Both were horses....

In the overtime right before we took that draw I was saying to myself. Damn, how are the caps doing this! Because I tell you what Crosby, Malkin, and Staal all did some extremely good things. I was just thinking we are rolling out constant pressure from all our lines. If we can continue to have 3 lines of extreme pressure we'll start wearing them down.

Was it me or did it seem line whenever Ovechkin was out there we had him playing defense and running around in his own zone? He did not have the time or space like he did in games 1 or 2.

It's really not hard to get into. It still makes no sense. Constant action (especially in the playoffs), hitting, fights.. it seems like something the US would love.

The friends I've sat down and forced to watch Pens' games with me ended up really liking it and have been watching the playoffs now. Just wish more people would be into it. A good playoff game is the best thing in sports.

It's just marketed terribly. The majority of players salaries come from ticket sales, so ticket prices are high comparatively, and it's hard to watch on TV. I would go to a hockey game over a football game, because I feel it's a better spectator sport in that sense, but that's not the norm. ESPN practically denies the sport exists, while talking NFL football everyday when possible, even if there is no real story. Hockey is a very exciting game, but it's very fast and hard to follow if you do not know the rules, and plays, or objectives. Here we're all fans, so of course we love the sport, but we have to realize why the NFL or other sports are much more "viewer-friendly" than a hockey game. It's a sport where alot of players are foreign, so national recognition is not as prevalent. It is an interesting case, you would think that America would get behind the sport, but after the lockout, there is just a disparity in coverage and marketing. Hard to say why, it's just the way it is right now. The fan base is loyal, but the growth is just not there for whatever reason.
