Almost forgot what playoff hockey was all about. This is a fantastic game. Both goalies are playing great, and the Pens decided to show up after my rant earlier.

Crosby is playing well, but he's not showing his normal offensive skills. Playing really well defensively though.

PLAY BEAU BENNETT MORE DAN

Iginla is pretty useless, Morrow not much better. Letang seems to think icing is a good thing. Other than that, the Pens are playing hard. Bruins looks really good at the end of OT. Partly because of Letang's repeated icings that wore the team out, and Malkin's retarded penalty.

That was an incredible game. Hats off to both teams for that remarkable effort to endure the carnage that it was. Someone had to win it, but it wasn't like either team really dominated as they both had there runs of good play. Can't say I see Pittsburgh coming back from this though. 3-0 hole is almost insurmountable, but down 3-0 against Boston pretty much is.

Only two goals scored all series & Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Iginla and Letang didn't even register a single point. That's outrageous. Never would have expected that to happen. Ever. I'm sure Shero is going to be very active this summer making some big executive decisions.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Bylsma gone, but also wouldn't be surprised to see him given another year. Judging by his playoff performance, I highly doubt they will re-sign Iginla though. Only way I see that is if he takes a serious pay cut, which I doubt he will & there's no sense in splashing cash on a guy who just turned 35 and did nothing in the Conference Finals.

Will be real interested to see what they do on defense & particularly in net. Fleury has let them down two straight years in the playoffs, but is that enough to get rid of him ? Only time will tell, but I'm sure they will make big efforts to add some help to the defense. It really cost them big against Boston, but the lack of scoring ultimately did them in. I really see big changes coming this way & will be paying close attention to what they do.

Now that I can talk rationally about how I want this team to go, I will.

I'm baffled that Dan Bylsma has a job. I don't know who I want this team to get, but they need a tough coach. Someone who doesn't take any bullshit and can put together a solid defensive plan. And maybe a coach who can make adjustments during the game. What a crazy idea that is!

I'm fine with keeping the guys who were acquired during the deadline if they can fit under the cap. I'd prefer to keep Murray over Morrow and Iginla. I'd like to see Iginla stay if the dumbest coach in the league who has a job because he has a great GM and a great roster decides to play Iginla at the position Iginla has played for 16 fucking years. Iginla was bad, but he did produce points, even playing outside his comfort zone. But if they're going to throw him on the other wing again, just let him go somewhere else and keep Dupuis.

The truth is that I think they only keep one of Dupuis, Morrow, Iginla and Murray. Dupuis is the most important.

Sign Letang without a NMC or NTC.

Try to make Vokoun happy after management shit all over him in the media. Not sure what that was about, but it was really disappointing.

Did I mention that Dan Bylsma needs to go?

It's starting to get late in lots of the role players' careers. I'm worried about how this team will look when they lose Dupuis, Kunitz, Orpik, Adams, Cooke. These are generally the consistent players outside of Crosby and Malkin. Losing them will turn this team into the Lightning with more defense and less depth.

If MAF blows this year, get rid of him in any way possible.

Also, has anyone seen Brandon Sutter play? I thought the Pens traded Jordan Staal for him, but I can't remember seeing him play. :shake: What a disappointment.

That's all?

Last night in a win against the Leafs, the Pens had to ice:

Kunitz - Crosby Dupuis
Zolnierczyk - Jokinen - Megna
Conner - Sutter - Vitale
Adams - Sill - Kobasew

Maata - Niskanen
Dumoulin - Bortuzzo
Despres - Samuelsson

Fluery

That is missing Malkin, Neal, Bennett, Glass, Letang, Martin, Scuderi, Orpik and Engelland. Ebbett and Vokoun are injured too.

Sadly, it was their best defensive effort all season. Wouldn't mind seeing Letang shipped out for a top line winger (Eberle), Orpik for a 2/3 tweener (Kulemin) or a pick, and maybe Glass or Adams so Megna can stay up. That lineup would be awesome.

After last year's sorry playoff performance, the regular season record doesn't really matter this year. The Pens will be judged by what they do in the playoffs. As I type this they've erased a two goal deficit to Columbus in the first game, but the fact they've allowed a power play AND short handed goal already - to a team they swept 5-0 this season - is not a good sign.

I'll believe this year's playoffs will be different when I see it.

Shaky start but they still won. The team capitalizes on the other team's lapses, whether they're turnovers, missed assignments or penalties. If only the Pens could establish a forecheck and some type of defensive consistency..
