Pittsburgh Penguins (Official Thread)

Early word is that Crosby lost a few teeth & is having oral surgery. Doesn't sound like something too significant for a hockey player at least. Very fortunate there wasn't any broken bones in the face. Looks like they dodged a bullet there.

While the Pens are known for their offensive stars the winning streak is being done with defense. Three straight shutouts, 10 goals allowed the last 10 games. That's insane. Ultimately, that will determine how far they go this season.

Pffft. I'd give him two minutes for diving.

I'm actually amazed this doesn't happen more than it does. Glad it didn't cause any serious damage (other than lost teeth of course)....one of these days someone is going to catch one in the throat, THAT will be ugly

Yeah, I'm always amazed about that not happening more often. Definitely not a bad thing.

Hope Crosby is alright, sounds like he'll be fine, other than some battle scars and fake teeth.

College players wear facemasks and if Crosby was wearing one the puck just bounces off. NHL players had to be forced to wear helmets and facemasks will be forced someday, too.

[censored]ing bull[Mark May]. Martin, Letang, Fleury, Crosby all out.

Not the end of the world yet. Still in first, still on a 15 game win streak, still on a three game shutout streak & still haven't given up more than two goals in a game in 11 straight games. Letang will be back soon as will Fleury. Martin is probably out for the rest of the regular season being out six weeks. The only real question mark is how long Crosby will be out. No expert on broken jaws, but that will certainly be it's fair share of time if I had to guess.

I'm not worried. It's not an end of the world thing as much as I can't remember the last time this team was healthy. Three years ago? Haha

I wouldn't be either. It's like Jake alluded to earlier, the important thing is how well the defense has been playing. Even with the injury to Crosby, they have more than enough capabilities to still be one of if not the elite offensive team in the NHL. There defense has really been there achilles heel the past few seasons. They were able to hang with anyone offensively, but Andre-Fleury was left for dead by his defense, especially in the Flyers series last year. I agree with what Jake said that, ultimately, this teams success will be determined how it's defense plays in the playoffs.

Obviously getting everyone healthy is the biggest concern. Some of there most important players have been out during this streak, yet they have been able to overcome those losses. Regular season doesn't end for another three weeks, so they should have enough time to get everyone healthy & prepared for the playoff run, even if Crosby is out for a lengthier spell.

Vokoun had better fucking start the next game and I don't want to see Fleury play in Pittsburgh ever again. He's shit the bed every playoffs since the Cup run. And shitting the bed is a compliment to whatever the fuck he's doing out there. You can at least clean up shit in the bed. Fleury's performance is like infesting a log cabin with termites.

That was a bad game for sure. Game 3 was a GREAT game as for a playoff hockey game. game 4 lived up to game 3. What a series that everyone thought was over after game one. And Fleury had a shutout. I wouldnt be surprised if he started game 5. Some of those goals we on the D. but some were god awe full
