Pittsburgh Penguins (Official Thread)

Oh yeah..

Kunitz is going to get suspended, probably for a while imo. Downie might be out for a while too, due to his history.

Kunitz blatantly stuck his elbow out and hit Gagne in the head.. Downie charged from the fucking blue line and left his feet to hit Ben Lovejoy (Talbot then took the puck down the ice and scored though ).

What Kunitz did was much more blatantly wrong than what Downie did though....

I agree. I thought I implied that, guess not.

But Downie has a pretty extensive history with dirty shit. He was suspended for 20 games for a very similar hit when he was with Philly. For that reason (and other suspensions) I think he'll get a game or two. Kunitz will probably be done for the series at best.

Then again, we're dealing with the NHL's disciplinarians, so we really have no idea how long or even if they'll be suspended.

I'm telling you, Colin Campbell has one of those magic 8-balls in his office and that's what he uses to figure this stuff out.

The difference between this hit and the 20-gamer for Downie was at least the puck was in the area this time and that will likely be a mitigating factor.

Just hope Kunitz gets at least the rest of the series - just think of the howling about favoritism if he doesn't

Agreed, I don't think it'll be anything close to 20 games for that reason. That being said, he has to be second or third in the league in suspensions over the course of his career.. and he started charging from Africa like he was trying to break the sound barrier and jumped right into Lovejoy's upper body. Pretty malicious hit and deserves a suspension. I wouldn't be surprised if his history gave him the same amount as Kunitz. I doubt he'll be out for the series though, unless the series only gets to game 5 (it won't).

Neal picked a helluva time to get the monkey off his back. Double OT game winner and the Pens have a chance to clinch at home Saturday! :banger:

I might go back for game 5. Need to get that sour taste out of my mouth, and I like Pittsburgh.

I sure hope you didn't actually do it. Game 5 was even worse than Game 2.

TB 8
PIT 2

Fortunately, Game 6 is on the road. Bylsma is 5-1 on the road in series clinchers. At home, 0-5. Also, road teams have won 60% of the games so far in this year's playoffs. Go figure.

I did not go.

..and that's all I have to say about that game.

Also, Jordan Staal is a third line center. He is certainly not a first liner, I don't even think he's a second liner. He's the best third line center in the league who should be expected to chip in some points.. but should not be relied on for points.

He's been bad filling in for Crosby and Malkin. I didn't expect him to play to their level, but I expected not fucking awful.

He's my favorite player. This is disappointing to me.

That period sucked. Just wasn't fun to watch.
