Pittsburgh Penguins (Official Thread)

You know what they will have in the playoffs though?

"Those associated with the Penguins are expecting to hear "Crosby is cleared" sometime soon from a team physician."

"At that point, which Crosby confidants are cautiously optimistic could come within the week ? he will resume full practices, with sights set on playing in, if not before, the Stanley Cup playoffs."

I like it. :)

I just hope he lasts longer than the first hard hit. If he can come back, play, and not suffer a setback this season the long term prospects are good.

Nice tapdance. Your fellow fan of the team from TSUN opened the Bertuzzi door.

That's ok, I'd rather follow them than a team from the most inbred state in the Union

BTW it's not really a tapdance. The first time Bert came through Detroit he wouldn't hit ANYONE and it was frustrating as hell.

How did that skill set work out for them in the last cup versus the Pens, or this season versus the Pens for that matter? :p

Yeah how did that skill set work out for the past 20 fucking years (not to mention 4 Stanley Cups) later? :slappy:

Obviously, you've never been to WV. BTW, rooting for a team from Michigan is hardly an upgrade.

Well, judging by the game misconduct he just got for an elbow to the head he got over it. At least he didn't almost kill this guy.

I'm old enough to remember the Dead Wings era. Just because you're not doesn't mean it didn't happen. They went 41 years between Cups, almost as long as the Pens have existed as a franchise.

no thanks living in one inbred shithole is enough for me....

That hit happens every game. Just because you need to demonize Bert because Cooke fits perfectly in the Penwhine philosophy and you can't handle it when it gets pointed out. I'm not by the way saying it wasn't a penalty.

Yeah so? It wasn't like the NHL was threatening to relocate the franchise because the "fans" weren't going to the games....btw I caught the end of the dead wings era and all of my Detroit cousins told me about it....

The words surrounding his potential return are getting softer. I think the chances we see him again this season are less than 50%. Along with Malkin being out I don't see more than a first round playoff win, at best, with or without Syd.

Frankly, I'm surprised how well they've done without both of those guys, but they seem unlikely to beat Philly or Montreal in a playoff series.

He might be playing. He's close.

With the NHL playoffs set to begin next week, it's becoming apparent that the Pittsburgh Penguins will not have the services of superstar Sidney Crosby when their first-round series gets underway, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Sidelined since Jan. 5 with a concussion, the center has begun taking part in morning skates with the club over the past week. Despite the progess, Crosby has yet to be cleared for contact.

I'll believe it when I see it, but continue to hope until I find out for sure.

From Dominic Moore's cousin (Moore is an ex-Penguin playing for Tampa)

As for the Penguins... not sure I have much more to tell u, but when we saw Dom in Buffalo last week he was talking about how they'd be playing Pitts in the first round... and he mentioned that Crosby would be back for sure. I think Dom still keeps in touch with a lot of the guys on Pitts so figure he must know what he is talking about...maybe?!?! He says Syd has been feeling better but they are waiting to put him back in "for effect"?! Dom seems to think they aren't fooling anyone tho and was talking as tho everyone (in the NHL) knew he'd be back for the playoffs.

Game 1 of the series against TB starts Wednesday. Game 2 Friday. Just booked a room in Pittsburgh. :banger:
