PGA Tour (Official Thread)

Bri, Pebble is either a pussycat or a tiger. In a wind of the ocean, #7 (110 par 3) requires a full driver. Haven't played it in several years, but when did, the iceplant was an automatic unplayable. Try to hit it, and it'd bury deeper. Not sure if has been eradicated or not. Spyglass is full of it, and it's not pretty. Of course you're gonna try to hit out of it, but one swing will cure you. Anyway, conditions Sunday were perfect. Just a little breeze. The third cut of rough was pretty deep, but the balls seemed to sit up instead of bury. New clubs can do amazing things. Was it Rose in fairway bunker at 14, hit a five iron, and backed up the ball? Unbelieveable. Yeah, it's worth a bucket list trip. See if you can get a Pebble-Spyglass-Spanish Bay package. Enjoy. Go Bucks! Oh yeah, Poppy Hills is a great track as well (now home to Northern Cal Golf Assn). Was on rotation for the AT&T until renovated. You'd enjoy that as well, and the price is a whole lot more digestible. My fave is Spyglass, since you're asking.

This reminds me of a story about Trevino. Trevino had started to win tournaments but was still relatively unknown to the general public. Lee and his family bought a house in a prestigious part of Dallas and one day he was out cutting his lawn. A neighbor driving through the neighborhood saw him and assumed that he was the gardener. He/she stopped their call and asked Lee “how much?” Trevino not really understanding replies “how much for what?”

“How much does the lady of the house pay you for your services”? “Oh she doesn’t pay me, she lets me sleep with her.” The neighbor left in a hurry.... and Trevino never told them he was the homeowner....

Armour came up just short of qualifying for next week’s Memorial, an invitational tournament that features a smaller field of just 120 players, so the Workday will be his only opportunity to play at Muirfield Village this year. This will be his fourth straight week playing in a tournament after a three-plus-month layoff due to the pandemic, so he’ll be ready for a week off anyway, though he likely wouldn’t turn it down if a spot in the field opened up for him.

Armour, who is set to tee off at 1:21 p.m. in Thursday’s first round of the Workday Charity Open, isn’t the only Buckeye in this week’s field. Bo Hoag, who played for Ohio State from 2008-11 and is currently in his first full season on the PGA Tour, is set to play in both the Workday and Memorial tournaments over the next two weeks.

RYAN ARMOUR, PGA TOUR
As we wrote about last month ahead of his return to Ohio to play in the Workday Charity Open, Armour scored back-to-back top-10 finishes for the first time in his PGA Tour career earlier this summer, when he tied for sixth at the Travelers Championship and fourth at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Since then, the former Ohio State golfer has fallen into a slump, missing his last three cuts, but Armour is still ranked 85th in the FedEx Cup standings, with three total top-10s for the year.

BO HOAG, PGA TOUR
In his first full season on the PGA Tour, Hoag has made the cut in 12 out of 19 events and has earned four top-20 finishes, including last weekend when he tied for 12th at the 3M Open. Hoag is currently ranked 119th in the FedEx Cup standings, six spots ahead of the 125-man cutoff to make the first round of the FedEx Cup playoffs and play in The Northern Trust later this month.

Always cheer for the Buckeyes on tour, wish they'd be higher on the leader boards......get sick of hearing "they represent Fla St well" etc w/o hearing the same for Buckeyes. These pros are very tough. You simply cannot compare them to us amateur golfers. Such a slender difference between #1 and #125. Go Bucks!
