Good thing he is a point guardThis kid might be the worst shooting guard in America. I like his overall game though.

Maybe he's just in a really bad shooting slump, right now Scott has the shooting touch of Shaq, even his foul shots come off the rim like they were thrown from half court, I can't believe how bad he has shot.
Anyone have some of his stats in HS? I'm guessing he got a very high percentage of his scoring, taking it to the rim.
His current stats this season:
28% from the field.
5.6% from the 3.
22% from the FT line.

Don't mean to be argumentative but don't quite understand a couple statements. I don't want want to get into next season until this one is over but where is Craft and Smith going and I don't see Shannon taking over for William. I will agree that he does push tempo and is a good defender but even a freshman PG must shoot free throws better. He has to improve his shooting or his quickness won't mean anything because defenders will just back off. I don't think Scott will bring anything to the table this evening but that's an entirely story.billmac91;2131139; said:Is he tentative or is he playing his role?
There is a huge difference. This isn't Shannon's time...next year is a different animal. Right now he's being asked to play great defense and push the ball. He brings a different element than William does...Shannon isn't a threat to shoot it, but he does play much faster and the ball doesn't stick in his hands. He keeps the rhythm of the offense while limiting bad shots.

NCAA basketball: Shannon Scott has proud dad
EAST REGIONAL

BOSTON ? Former Celtics guard Charlie Scott doesn?t make it back to Boston very often anymore, but he was thrilled to return for Ohio State?s 77-70 victory over Syracuse in the NCAA East Regional final last night at the Garden.
Scott?s son, Shannon, is a freshman guard for the Buckeyes and Scott sat with his wife, Trudy, and former Celtics teammate Jo Jo White in the section behind the Ohio State bench.
In a regional semifinal win over Cincinnati on Thursday, Shannon led the Ohio State reserves with 16 minutes and had two points and three assists. Last night, he didn?t get in until starting point guard Aaron Craft fouled out with 48.4 seconds left.
?He?s a freshman, he?s got a long time ahead of him,? an excited Scott said after the game. ?The most important thing was his team won. That?s what he was most appreciative of. He?s going to get his chance to play. He?s got time. He?s not worried about not playing. This is a big thrill for him. I know it?s a big thrill for me. I?m happy for him. If he played, I wouldn?t feel any different than I do now for him. I know he?s very happy. That?s the most important thing.?
Father knew best.
?It felt great,? Shannon said. ?Coming in the game when Aaron fouled out, I had to stay calm and just finish the game off.?
Ohio State advanced to play today?s Kansas-North Carolina winner in the Final Four on Saturday.
?To get a chance to play in the Final Four is really spectacular,? Shannon said, ?for any team. We had to fight hard and we did a great job.?
Before the game, Scott admitted he was nervous.
?When you?re a dad,? Scott said, ?it?s tough watching your kid play because you want so badly for them to succeed at a very high level.?

postgame--shannon scott surprised
Freshman guard Shannon Scott was as surprised as anyone that Syracuse chose not to foul him after he entered for the first time with 49 seconds left and the Buckeyes leading 68-64.
Scott, who replaced Aaron Craft when the starting point guard fouled out, figured the Orange would go after him because he was cold off the bench and had not attempted a shot.
?I assume they would have, but I guess they didn?t think that fast,? Scott said.
Syracuse instead fouled Lenzelle Smith Jr., who made two free throws to increase the lead to 70-64. The Buckeyes then made seven of their last eight foul shots to clinch it.
Scott tried not to think about entering the game with a Final Four appearance on the line.
?But it goes through your mind,? he said, smiling. ?I just myself to be ready for anything.?
Craft said Syracuse was more concerned with causing a 10-second call or making a steal than in fouling Scott.
?I wasn?t worried for him,? Craft said. ?It worked out.?
Scott was disappointed that he didn?t get a chance to go to the line.
?It would have been a chance to get some points in there. I wanted to be there,? he said.
I wonder if Boyd graduated from UCLA:(BigWoof31;2211456; said:Not applicable to Shannon Scott or Ohio State - but pertinent based on the High School from which Shannon graduated.

Head Coach Dave Boyd has been dismissed for illegal recruiting (Undue Influence). During his time at Milton he won multiple state champioships and ever record and contact is currently being reviewed by the school.
http://buckeyextra.dispatch.com/con.../2012/10/10-22-12-thoughts-from-practice.html-- Scott, whose shot probably needed the most offseason work, had his good moments and bad moments with it. One thing he had no trouble with was his ankle-busting crossover dribble, which got him by Craft and to the rim several times. The kid is quick, no doubt.
