PG/SG Amedeo Della Valle (AX Armani Exchange Milano - Italy)

Amedeo had his best game tonight. Really was an asset to the team today. Hopefully he will bring that type of play more consistently.
While he shot the ball much better last night, I think the consistency factor that you mention has been there all season. You are the same person who told me that he would not see any Or not much playing time this season..

Loved his hustle last night. Thad loves having a spark plug off the bench, and he's got two great ones in Amedeo and Sam Thompson. His 3's off of fast breaks are serious daggers and momentum killers for the other team. Hoping he can keep this going through the B1G season.

Well, I thought Kam would play instead of him, but without Kam in front of him ADV has managed to find a role. However, his consistency has not been good - keep in mind he's out there to shoot the ball and score. He has had 2 double-digit scoring games all season. He has had 2 good games and pretty much every other game he has been questionable. He has had 3 games all year where he scored over 4 points in the game. Must play more like he did against Delaware and North Florida in order to merit playing in Big Ten games.

Sorry, but if he's not scoring, he's not worth putting out on the court, IMO.
I will disagree with you. I think that he is a pretty good defender and rebounder for a guard. I will admit that he is certainly not up to Smith, Jr.'s contributions but he brings a little more to the table than just his scoring while that may be his primary attribute.

Amedeo had picked up his consistency on offense of late, and has become a real asset to this team. Definitely has been a pleasant surprise. This kid is more skilled offensively than most people realize, I'd like to see him become more of a focus offensively.

One thing that Amedeo brings every game is hustle, toughness, and his mouth. Case in point, after he hit his 2nd 3(NBA range) over Hayes, I loved seeing him start yacking to Gasser while playing D, He also got under the skin of Kaminski when the time out was called latter on. Talking trash was always part of Larry Bird and Magic's game - exploit any crack in your opponents game - get them thinking about you and not the team. Hell, he can talk shit in Italian and make it worse.... LOL
I'm also exited about his newfound confidence to take it to the rim off the dribble in recent playing time. The next two years will be fun watching him mature.

Bingo. I honestly don't think OSU wins that game without ADV's play in the first half yesterday--he brought a fire to the Buckeyes that wasn't there otherwise, and kept OSU in the game. Hell of a game. Give him more minutes, Thad.

Deo needs to step up his FT % as he gets more PT. 62% won't cut it from such a competent shooter, particularly since he is now putting the ball on the floor and pressuring defenders closer in to the hoop and consequently drawing fouls.

5. Getting production off the bench is big, especially from Amedeo Della Valle. Ohio State sometimes has no choice to go to McDonald when Williams gets into foul trouble, but Matta does have a choice with Della Valle. The sophomore accounted for nine points in the first half, and had a crucial three from beyond NBA range that shifted momentum when Wisconsin was about to run away with it. The one criticism with Della Valle is that he gets too pumped up after making a big play, but this Ohio State team is different if he’s going to chip in 11 points.

“When Deo came in, he’s got a job – it’s to put the ball in the basket,” Matta said. “I thought he had some really good looks.”

I wouldn't sweat this too much--small sample size (he's only taken 24 FTs all season) coupled with a horrible start (only hit 1 of his first 5) are responsible here. Since Thanksgiving, he's shooting 74% (14 of 19).

Good point. It's great to see the kid becoming more diversified in his scoring. The fact he can score off the bounce only enhances his value in catch-and-shoot, as he'll get a bit more space when he's beyond the arc.

I can see Deo being very Diebleresque as he develops over the next couple of seasons.
